Good place for anyone on 40B

This is a wonderful place if you can get the 40B pricing that brings this complex into "a steal" pricing ($700 for a 1B, $950 for a 2B). If however you are one of the vastly outnumbering unfortunates who actually have to subsidize the poor, you will find yourself dismayed at the price for what you get ($1400 for a 700 sq foot 1 bedroom, $2200 for a 2B, the ghastly number goes up from there).
What you do get: Mice, excessive utilities bills (even when apartment is vacant), loud neighbors, dog ---- on every piece of green grass, carpeting that constantly sheds.
What you don't get: Working fireplaces (even when you pay an extra $30 per month), a pool you can use during reasonable hours (filled with screaming kids during the daytime, closed when you get back from work), money in your pocket after you've paid rent.
Some of the "ammenities": A general purpose court that is never really "finished", a pool which is never available to working adults, a fitness center with equipment designed for stay at home moms (treadmills, bikes, elipticles, yoga mat, yoga ball), a "business center" that always has kids or guests using it, free snow plowing begining at 8:30am which is useful for all those people who have to get to work, onsite maintenance staff who come into your apartment long enough to drop off a "work completed" form (what work' the 4 steps you took into my apartment')
In my unit of 14, 8 units are vacant. Of the 6 that are filled, 3 are flop houses for young adults who throw parties every weekend, and the other 2 are likely leased by Fidelity/HP for traveling execs as they are rarely lived-in (notices stay on doors for weeks on end). Some of the people that signed in the summer took a 2 month penalty & concession of the 1.75 months free they got when signing. They forfeited over $5,000 JUST TO GET OUT OF HERE!
Is it any wonder' You could 100% finance a 1B that size in Marlborough for $600 a month and own the damn thing, instead of paying 2.5x the amount to rent. Adios come renewal!

we caught 1-2 mice per week in our apartment that had been sealed. They were coming in from behind the stove and dishwasher and under the cabinets along the foundation. If you have a basement or terrace apartment, the builders didn't put drywall all the way to the floor, instead they left a 1" crack. This is done to avoid moisture build up from a cement foundation.. totally normal, but the RIGHT thing to do would have been to put trim there so mice couldn't get in.
I honestly think the mice were built INTO the building or possibly were trapped and are breeding. We caught babies and adults. Mice breed FAST so if they aren't taken care of quickly you'll never get rid of the problem.

We keep our apartment very clean...so I was surprised when my cat was bringing us mice the first couple of months. Fortunately, there hasn't been a problem with that for a while. I thought the mice were coming from my husband's moving boxes when we came from his older Boston apartment. I can't fathom how they could get in the apartment! My cat keep guard at the stove every night just in case. How many mice have you had and where did they come from?

At least 6. The first one we found was dead when we came back from vacation -- trapped in a slippery garbage can. Then we continued to find poop afterwards. We have laid down 4 mice traps ever since. Sometimes we catch mice (4 so far), sometimes they just eat the bait and don't get killed. They came from the same area (behind the stove, behind the raised cabinets above the range) as we can see chew holes surrounding those areas.

I'm a new resident and I admit I'm terrified reading these reviews. What building numbers have these mice problems, if I may ask???

We didn't realize the problem until we left for the vacation and when we came back our kitchen was full of mice... we had throw lots of food stuff because the boxes and packets where invaded by the strong mices...
