Luxury and Section 8? What???

We lived in the 1 bedroom for 1 year and upgraded to the 2 bedroom B4 for our second year. We found it clean overall, the appliances ok but very very cheap. The HVAC unit was also very inadequate for the size of the apartment, it didn't heat or cool very well.
The biggest problem is the ratio of full paying renters to Section 8 renting. We ultimately left because I'm not going to pay $2000/month when all the section 8 renter (families) in the building pay half that and destroy the common areas and let there kids run a muck. It's really quite sad, Stonegate was a brand new nice community who boasted giving the business class individuals a luxury lifestyle, however due to the economy they are just filling every unit with Section 8 tenants. No offense, everyone has tough times but that doesn't mean you have to be loud, messy, destructive, and disrespectful. Not only are you paying half the amount I am in rent, you are also using my tax dollars to pay for your apartment. This also plays out to the summers in the pool area, again I apologize but you can't invite the city of Woonsocket to join you in the pool area, I pay twice as much to live there and don't want to put up with the trash you dragged in.
My only other grief is with the utilities. We were two working professionals and our water and electric bill were THROUGH the roof. Rumor has it Stonegate bills you for hallway electricity and heat as well as tags on water cost for the pool and sprinklers and I'd believe it. Our new place our electric is 25% of the cost at Stonegate and we have free water now. They utilities here are bogus, something is definitely wrong with that.
The only nice thing was the office staff, they were always polite and courteous. And as far as maintenance, it is very good IF you are a paying tenant not Section 8. I wouldn't respond to the Section 8 requests either.
My favorite part is after 2 years, and in a failing economy they want to raise the rent $400. Come on guys...
Where do you move if your a working professional and just want to not deal with welfare??? I guess the only option is to buy a house in a nice neighborhood, oh wait the section 8 community just buy those houses when they can't afford them and then the economy tanks because everyone is foreclosing.... There is no escaping it....

I too lived at Stonegate and agree with everything the review says. Stonegate stated a policy of only 2 guests at the pool with a tenant. There was one day I was nervous about bringing my brother, sister in law with their small baby girl down to the pool because it would be 3 people. But wouldn't you know that my noisy neighbors living in a unit a unit with 2 more bedrooms and a loft for less than I was paying for a 1 bedroom brought down about 10 of their noisy friends, adults and children.
My neighbor had shared with me one day what she paid for her unit with a loft, she had 2-3 bedrooms and a loft space for a little over 1100.00 whereas I was paying 1475.00 for a one bedroom. INSANE.

I agree!for the amount your paying you could easily be renting a house!its realy sad how u percieve yourself to be upperclass yet your obviously rude ,stuck up ,with a holier then thow complex ! you have the nerve to pass judgment on people just because they have section 8! in my opinion people like you and your ignorant, imoral, rich bich attitudes are the ones who should be kicked out!i hope you find god and all the ignorant ,prejudice people just like you do too before your judgement day comes! because just to let you know when your time comes and you go to meet the lord your not going to bring all your nice fancy material objects with you ! the only way you get through the gates of heaven is buy being a good person with a good heart and soul!not by being a miserable ,prejudice ,judgemental snob that thinks there better then people just because they make more money1shame on you all ,but dont worry i leave it up to god to make sure people like you dont get into heaven the same way you dont want people on sec 8 in your neighborhoods !it so sad that there is still so much ignorance and evil still in this world

I bet you're just ashamed cause you're on of the ones with your 3 children from different daddies and have every piece of scum friend you have over to the pool every day. I have never met a person who is section 8 who has been respectful and responsible. You have very clearly reinforced that stigma. Thank you for that! You should be grateful you don't have to work as hard, no really. Enjoy living off the state and living in nice places. Go ahead and dirty up places you could never afford without the government. Stonegate used to be nice. Then the disrespectful were allowed in. And it's people like you who will ruin the world, when the government steps in to help you. You should be ashamed.
