We moved into this complex in January, 2002 and still (6/1/03) live here. However, we do not intend to renew our lease at the end of this year for several reasons.
First, the noise levels. All hours of the day and night, our neighbors (next door, and below) are awake, active, and aren't afraid to let us know it! I like Snoop Dogg as much as the next guy, but I don't really care to hear his music all day long and into the night. I also don't really care to hear the arguments, conversations, phone calls, and screaming children of my neighbors. Multiple requests & complaints to the rental office have resulted in no change in the noise levels around us.
Parking is... okay -- there are no assigned parking spaces, and our guests always have a place to park. However, during the winter, it can be difficult to park due to the plowing & plowed-in cars that people do not dig out.
The dumpsters are frequently overflowing with stuff -- perhaps from people outside the complex dropping off their trash' Either way, too full, not emptied frequently enough.
One OLD washer & dryer for the entire building (12 apartments) is also a ridiculously low ratio.
Despite numerous memos from management telling people to not leave stuff in the hallways, there are always things being left on the walkways, in the hallways, and sometimes on the stairs. Children's toys, boxes, and, all-too-frequently, smelly garbage bags that people are too lazy to bring outside.
Security & safety are okay, if the people in your building don't make a practice of leaving something in the door to prop it open. Again, something that management has sent numerous memos about, but which they seem completely unwilling to actually come down on people for breaking these rules.
To be fair, the Maintenance crew here has been great -- whenever something goes wrong, they repair the problem promptly, and professionally. We've had good experience with them the few times we've had to call.
In summary, Windsor Meadows seems to be too intent on keeping the vacancy rate low, regardless of whether or not the person they lease to follows the rules set forth in their lease. As a result, the quality of life here has deteriorated quite dramatically, and quite noticeably, since we moved in.
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about the unit... bottom line: I WOULD NOT recommend it to other people in this time of high vacancy rates & negotiable rents, unless the Windsor Meadows staff gets serious about addressing problems and enforcing the rules that they detail in their leases.
