Generally Nice Living

After living at Wellington Place for 11 months now, my roommate and I are ready for a change. The tenants are all generally young professionals or graduate students. Many who simply stay to themselves and are very friendly during interactions. The amenities are wonderful. We loved going to the fitness center any time of day and grilling out by the pool area. The surrounding area is great with lots of shopping, including groceries, and gas stations all very close. And of course, easy acess to Routes, 1, 16, 28, and 93 are always a plus! The price was nice at first but upon completion of our first years' lease the monthly rate is going to up almost $300! Yikes... that's why it's time for a move! Well, that and a few other things.
As some have already stated, the walls are very thin and we can often hear our neighbors next to us and even those above us through our ceiling. Unfortunately, we had very loud neighbors above us. Other people have posting saying they had complaints of rodents, but I have had no such experiences! I believe they may have had those problems when the buildings were first constructed seeing as they are only 2 years old, but I think that problem has been solved by now. Being on the second floor however has proven "interesting". We are on the same side as route 16 and during the morning and evening rush hour this can be VERY noisey! If you can avoid getting an apartment on this side, do it! Also, we have had a lot of problems with noise coming from the water pipes which must have been placed too close to the walls. There is a constant tapping/knocking sound any time someone living on the floors above us runs their water or flushes a toilet. Very annoying when trying to get to sleep!
For the location and amenities the apartments were well worth it (at first). But with all the noise and higher prices, it's just not the best first impression of housing in Greater Boston.
