I moved in there in early 2001, but my roommate lived there alone for a year prior to my arrival.

Upsides: There are lots of nice younger children there and a handful of teens. If you have kids this is important. They have a big lot to ride bikes in. Also, there are a lot of nice neighbors (with a few jerks). The pool is OK, but small, with a lifeguard. They allow cats. The neighborhood is basically quiet, no gangs.

Downers: Super high rents, no qualms about raising them, either. The apts are really run down, and the mgmt is deaf to requests for repairs -- except emergencies where they would be liable for any resulting injuries. Our floors were totally worn out, with threadbare carpeting. The windows were literally detaching from the bldg frame, no response there. After waiting a YEAR for them to find out why the heating/AC unit was so noisy, we finally fixed it at our own expense so we could sleep nights. We lived there a total of three years and they fixed our mailbox lock the week we were moving out! The laundry machines are laughably out of repair and they shake the walls down. The maint guys seem nice, but they will only do exactly what the mgr tells them, regardless of # of times requested for repairs -- they will lie and tell you they will intercede for you & then never do it.
