We are just finishing up a one year lease and won't be returning. The grounds are kept clean and beautifully gardened. The apartments are spacious. The ice is always cleared from the parking lots and sidewalks all winter.

BUT...

I have been extremely bothered by the lack of privacy. There are no chain or bolt locks in the apartments, nor are you allowed to install any. When the maintenance comes to check or fix anything, they knock once and then just walk in, even if you are at home. I was lying in bed nursing my baby one morning after a sleepless night when in walks a maintenance guy. Not a nice surprise.

The management also shows your apartment to future prospective renters while you are still living in it. They reserve this right in your lease agreement. I have lived quite a few places, and this is NOT standard procedure. People are usually shown an empty apartment, not invited in to dig through the closets (yes, you read that right) of the current tenants. Once I submitted notice I was moving, they began bringing people in to view my apartment every day. And, again, they just unlocked my door and walked right in on me and my children.

Last- but by no means least- my neighbor and I discovered that our keys unlock each other's apartments. She got locked out one day, and in using my key to try and jimmy the door open, we found to our alarm that it was a perfect match! So I have spent the last couple of months wondering who else's key will open my apartment and how many people realize that!!

Kendall Crossing is a very pretty place to live and the neighbors are great!

BUT...

I don't feel like that is worth totally giving up my right to feel secure in my own home.
