Don't be suckered by their initial charm

Homes Incorporated is a terrible management agency. They seemed very friendly and helpful in the beginning, but abandoned that almost immediately after I moved into one of their units.
After agreeing to a 1-year lease when I looked at the apartment, they switched leases on me when I went to sign it to a tenant-at-will. I realize I am partially to blame here as I should have paid more attention, but after discussing the lease at length I guess I became eager to sign. What ended up happening was that about 3 months after I moved in, they jacked up my rent to 1300. I tried to speak with Carolyn Turchon, the "president", several times, but she kept on avoiding me.
Basically, Homes Incorporated tries to put forth the least amount of effort and energy as their tenants pay outlandish rents. The building smells like gas, and occasionally the odor of raw sewage pervades the air. When you request work to be done, expect a letter in the mail notifying you of a rent increase.
I feel that I was deceived and taken advantage of with Homes Incorporated.
