Loud, dirty & crowded area

Route 1 is a thin stretch of highway that spans through Rhode Island up to Boston. At times, the road becomes so congested that it is impossible to go to the supermarket for groceries. The drivers are easily frustrated and often accidents happen. There are no crosswalks to speak of, and no way of safely crossing the road. This implies that the area is overcrowded with cars and exhaust fumes throughout the day. Not a good place for asthmatics.

The neighbors are incredibly loud. A couple of times I found it necessary to issue a noise complaint to the local police department. And the walls are paper thin; I can hear every step each of my neighbors make. It's quite annoying at 12am when you're trying to sleep and all you can hear are the footsteps of the person upstairs.

This area is better designed for new families. The school and the police department is close by. However, for a new renter just starting off, this place costs too much for too little. As a lesson learned: if you're single, under 30 and you don't need a place like this then keep away. Find a more suitable place that will probably cost less!!

As a long term tenant I find these comments untrue. The only time traffic is an issue is around holidays as its close to 1 -mi. Emerald Sq.Mall.The am and pm commute will make any road busy.I've NEVER had an issue with noise and there is absolutely NO TRUTH that the police come here.I checked with N.A. Police dept before I moved in and have yet to EVER see a cruiser here. Maintenance men respond immediately to the few minor issues I've had.The office staff is always attentive and helpful.

I agree with the previous response to this review. I have looked at MANY apartment complexes and you will be hard pressed to find anything with more space and/or lower prices than Royal Park. I lived for a year in a studio and while I could hear some noise from upstairs (there was a 2-year-old) it was NEVER as bad as implied in this review. Maintenance responds VERY quickly and go above and beyond to solve any and all issues/requests. I also agree that Route 1 gets busy, but only at the same times that ANY roadway gets busy--during holiday shopping times and normal rush hours. I am now in my third apartment with this complex and plan to stay until my husband and I find a home to purchase.

Reviews like this always make me chuckle. You're complaining about the highway and traffic congestion that surrounds the complex? Isn't that YOUR responsibility to evaluate before you move into a place? Is the apartment complex responsible for the "overcrowding of cars" or the lack of crosswalks? Take some responsibility for your actions. Perform your due diligence. Evaluate the surrounding area, look hard at the construction and quality of the place BEFORE you move in. "This place costs too much for too little" is the final kicker. Um, excuse me, but were you not told of how much rent was, or were you somehow surprised by it? Give me a break. Just admit you made a mistake - don't blame it on the complex.

I don't know where this person was living, but it doesn't sound like Royal Park. Sure, there's traffic on Route 1, but it's invariably only an issue on weekends near the Christmas holiday and during rush hour. If one finds the roads so congested they can't get to the supermarket (which, by the way, is less than a quarter mile away and is a safe right turn out of the complex exit) then I think that speaks more to poor driving skills than a traffic problem. Plus, there's almost always a police cruiser near the complex, so speeders are not much of a problem. Oh, and there's two crosswalks near the entrance to Royal Park: one at the intersection of Rte. 1 and North main Street (right outside Royal Park) and another at the lights in front of Stop & Shop. If you are too lazy to walk a few steps away from the entry to the apartment complex that's your own fault. Last note on traffic: school busses pick up kids right at the entrance to Royal Park, and I've seen the commuter bus pick people up there as well. I suppose every building is a little different, but I have no complaints about noise. I've been an apartment dweller for 20 years, and this place is no worse than any other, and better than some. And to say "this place costs too much for too little" is laughable. I defy you to find any apartment within 50 miles that offers a comparable sized apartment, with washer and dryer included in the apartment, that is within $200 of the price you pay at Royal Park. I guarantee you can't do it, probably out to 100 miles! Disclaimer: I ama current resident of Royal Park (since 2006), and have lived here in the past (1992-94 and 2003-2004). I only left prior time due to work and financial issues. This place is the best!

Traffic? Congestion? You live down the street from a mall!! How did you think all those customers got there? Hovercraft? Check out the area an apartment is in BEFORE renting.
