Nice, but too expensive

I didn't know what to pay in the area as I had just re-located. I rented a 1 bedroom for $1065; it was nice enough; though I did have some maintenance issues that were never really dealt with in a satisfactory way. Renewal came around and they were raising me to $1165; needless to say, I'm going to move. $1165 is ridiculous for a 1 bedroom apartment that doesn't even have a dining room or washer & dryer. Also, the majority of the other tenants from the bldg were foreigners; and the smell from the food they cooked was absolutey unbearable. My friend rents an apartment less than a mile a way that is larger, equally as nice and only pays $650 a month!
