Apartment type and lease period:
I had rented a 1 bedroom unit on the seventh floor (though the management never showed the apartment before signing the lease) for about 8 months at Faxon (2005-06).

Apartment features and pricing:
The apartment was provided in a good condition without any food smells and it had plenty of natural light. The heat and temperature control worked quite well all through winter. I did not have much of a chance to use the air conditioning but it did work well when I used it. Hot woter was an issue from Day 1. It was just luke warm to warm never hot. Maintenance requests were made about 8 times when the water turned completely cold and though they were prompt in responding, never could fix the problem. Price is definitely on the higher side - there are better apartments available at the same price (unfortunately for me, I found this later after moving to Quincy).

Management & Staff:
This is the worst part. The entire staff and the property manager are extremely unfriendly.

Example 1: Before signing the lease I had requested for visiting the apartment which was flatly (AND QUITE RUDELY) refused (they said they would show only the model apartment).

Example 2: My car was towed away from the parking lot for no reason even though my parking sticker was on it and it was parked in the residents parking spot. Management posed as though this was not their responsibility and they did not provide any explanation for why this happened. Nor my towing charges reimbursed to me (if anyone knows where I can register a complaint against the towing company and the faxon management please post the information - the towing company guy they used did not look like someone who would listen to reason so I did not risk arguing!!!)

Example 3: Management requires a 60 day notice for vacating the apartment even if your lease gets over and you did not renew the lease. And the notice will be in effect starting the first of the forthcoming month not when you give it. As bad luck would have it, I could not provide the notice on the first of the month (2 months prior to end of lease) but I provided it the very next day. The property manager flatly refused to take it and responded with a rude "You are obliged to pay the rent for one more month".

Example 4: If you are out and a package arrives for you it goes to the management office. You need to provide an id to calim it from the office. When my wife first came from out of town to join me (she had just arriaved and not joined the lease) there was a package for her from her new employer. The office almost refused to give us the package citing that the person addressed in the package (my wife) is not in the lease. We really had to argue with them for over an hour to retrieve the package from them.

Example 5: A deposit of half-a-month's rent (for the last month) was to be provided with the lease agreement which can be retrieved when you vacate. They still haven't reimbursed me the deposit well after my lease term is over and I've left the premises.
