Expensive, nice if you're not picky about privacy

There is no doubt this is a luxurious complex. The pool is large and well maintained, and the jacuzzi was always worth a fairly long walk from our apartment. And do you know how hard it is to find a place with BOTH a balcony and a fireplace' This wins big.
If anything, they were TOO keen on maintenance. Several times, I found myself asking my roommate things like "Um, why are there strange men looking in our (3rd floor) balcony door when we're not even dressed yet'" They were painting and so on - which is great, but how many times did we need paint in a year' And they could have rung the bell to warn us before appearing at our windows. "Notice" was generally a "we will be painting sometime this month" flyer which we'd forgotten all about by the time workers began.
Not a good place to live if you don't have a car for each person. It's a mile walk to the red line, and the hourly bus isn't on schedule - you have to go wait for it 15 minutes before the scheduled time to make sure you don't miss it, and then may wait up to 40 minutes if it's late.
The kitchen was teeny. The closets were HUGE. Come to think of it, they were almost the same size.
Very little walkable shopping or resources in the neighborhood. Half mile to the nearest convenience store.
The office staff gets poor ratings from me, not for issues with routine work, but because of the Stolen Files Incident. A credit card was issued to a crook in my roommate's name, and it turned out that this had happened to many people in the complex. Someone had stolen their financial and personal information from the office records, and applied for credit with it. As far as we know, NOTHING was done to root out the insider, and certainly the office didn't want to admit that this was what had happened. The resulting wreckage of his credit rating nearly prevented him from being able to buy a house. While this incident could probably have happened anywhere, and it was years ago, I still suggest keeping a sharp eye out for identity fraud.
