I've lived here for approximately 1 year and I'm in the process of deciding if I will stay or go, still undecided.
Pros -Nice well kept property -Spacious well equipped apartments -Very nice neighbors and community in general -Pool, weight room, sauna, & hot tub -Quincy is a great city and you're close to the mall, beach and a ski hill -A fireplace in every apartment -I got a very good deal on rent when I moved in considering what other similar apartments go for
Neutral -Maintenace requires 2-3 visits to solve problems, but are quick to do so -Parking may involve leaving your car several buildings away -You can hear freeway traffic at night -No BBQ's allowed although in their defense you will smoke out your upstairs neighbors and everything is made of wood -One of the few dog friendly places
Cons -Noise. Generally people are very curtious about keeping the noise levels down, although living right next to the pool I am used to the screams of 3am Pool crashers on a nightly basis. Also the walls are very thin, I can hear my neighbor snoring at night. To add to the noise element, grounds keeping staff seem to think its acceptable to cut the lawn and use leaf blowers at 6:30 - 7:00 am. -Safety. Although I have complete faith in the residents that live here, in general the grounds are very poorly lit. We also have a serious problem with car thefts (due to the poor lighting, seclusion of the complex, relatively nice vehicles that are parked here and the proximity to highways that let thieves escape in any direction within a few minutes). -Commute to Boston. Ever hear this phrase on the radio "backed up from Furnace Brook to Columbia"' If not, you'll get used to it on your 30-60 minute commute every day. The same coming back at night. -You can actually smell the smoke from your neigbors apartment if they are smokers, especially potent in the laundry room since all dryers are connected to the same exhaust system. -Gas heat and water becomes very expensive in the winter time, expect to pay at least $100 a month more during Dec-Feb. -I saw a big change in the staffs attitude towards me after I signed my lease. These days I try and avoid them as much as possible. -When it comes time to renew your lease expect a big jump in rent and its not negotiable.
