At first I wasnt sure...then I loved it, ...then HATED it!

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
When We first moved here We had a 1st floor/basement apartment. It was a nice apartment inside, but the sidewalk to the parking lot was right outside my windows on all sides. My bedroom was right next to the parking lot, I mean it was only a foot away. I felt I had no privacy. Also there was practically no sun in the 1st floor apartment, although all of these factors probably depend on which apartment youre in.
So the second year, We decided to spend the extra money rentwise and move up to the 3rd floor apartment. We absolutely love it now! It s very private, We can leave our blinds open and not worry about people looking in at us, also, it has skylights! And a very nice deck with walls on either side, very private! Very sunny! The cielings are 14 feet tall in the living/dining area, and 8 feet in the bedrooms and rest of the apartment. There are wood beams over the kitchenette area. Very cool.
Both units had wall to wall carpeting, electric heat, and an Airconditioner. In the first apartment, the airconditioner didnt work very well, it was very old, and they were very helpful in quickly replacing it with a brand new one.
The only problem we have had with this apartment complex is their laundry facilities. The washers and dryers are very small, and the dryers do not dry anything very well at all. But they are addressing this issue right now. They just sent out a survey to all tenants on how they can make the laundry facilities better. So in my opinion, this is a great place to live! Just keep in mind if you are looking at a fist floor apartment, how close your windows are to the sidewalks and parking lot. There are some units on the first floor that look more private than others. Just be wary of that.
Towards the end before we moved out, there were other problems, a Squatter in the first floor apt. that they couldn't get to leave. I was afraid he was going to burn the place down with his drinking and smoking while drunk. Then the neighbors kept banging on the walls like we were too loud, except we were only talking in normal voices, so we felt we had to whisper in our own apartment! Then, the maintenece people would just come in whenever they felt like it, un-announced. I would be home from work on a day off and some maintenence guy would just walk right on in, using their keys to unlock the door. It made me wonder how often they did this, and WHY. After all of those things, I pretty much couldn't wait to get out of there. Oh, and they didn't do a great job of plowing snow or keeping on top of the snow and ice problem either.
I bought a House in 2006. It's a fixer-upper, but boy is it better than being at that apartment!!!!!
