At first you may think that it is not so bad, maybe even nice. But you'll soon find out that the property manager takes more days of vacation than actual days worked, that the office manager is not very friendly and certainly not cooperative, that the maintenance staff, although very nice guys, are not very competent, considerate, and certainly not timely, and that no one will help you with anything, even if it is to their benefit.
Several times it has taken well over a year to get something fixed. I'm talking critcal things like heat and a/c, leaks, windows, etc. The units are not kept up and I'd be suprised if they are even up to code. Walls are paper thin and the carpets are 30 years old even though they'll tell you that the carpets are brand new when you move in. Oh, and be prepared for your electric bills to magically double during the winter months, whether you use the heat or not.
Recently my apartment flooded and I had an insurance adjuster in to look at my furniture who said that he was shocked at how things were being handled regarding the building. He insisted his insurance company would never let Presidential Estates handle things the way they were if it was his insurance company taking care of the building damage. He called them shifty and felt they were cutting corners to save money. They didn't even turn in a claim on flood damaged that ruined 3 apartments.
But the main thing is that nobody there cares about you, you're just a pocket book full of greenbacks to them. You won't get any help and chances are you'll be ignored when you try work with them.
Having said that I do think the grounds are very nice, I'm only sorry that the maintenance staff doesn't put as much time or effort into the actual apartments in which we live. The parking is great for one car (assigned spots) but if you have a second car you better like two things...1) Walking 2) big hills. I will also say this to their credit: perhaps the only blessing I've seen at this place is that they've only raised my rent $15 since I moved in over two years ago.
