This place is bad news

We recently moved out of Presidential Estates, and couldn't be happier for it. After two years of noise, stink, and attitude, we had had enough. Here are some highlights of our adventures:

-Had an assigned parking spot next to someone with a large van who couldn't park when he was sober...let alone when he drove in drunk (which happened frequently). He parked partly in our spot quite often and actually parked fully in our spot another time. We asked the gentleman at the front gate to have him towed and was told that he wouldn't do that because he knew the guy.

-Electric bills were ridiculous. The electric heat and poor insulation meant that our winter bills were about $300-$350 a month. Not much better in the summer, with the AC causing the bills to be up around the $250 mark.

-As time went on, it seemed like more and more children moved in...and were allowed to play outside unsupervised. Not only was the noise terrible, they would come right up to our windows (we were on the first floor) and look in or scream at our cat. Just the thing I want to deal with after a long day at work.

-The dryer in our building never, ever dried anything thoroughly. It usually took another whole cycle to get things dried and despite multiple requests to management, it was not fixed in our two years there.

-Maintenance was AWFUL. In order to get the light bulb by the front door changed it took more than six phone calls over a five week period. The straw that broke the camel's back for us was when we got new neighbors next door who liked to cook curry and fish. Their vent over the stove was actually BLOWING into our apartment. Every night like clockwork we would have to smell whatever they were cooking, without fail. When we asked that that be fixed before we signed a new lease we were told that there was no way that was happening and it would not be fixed. Needless to say, we decided to move at that moment.

-Poor communication/tenant relations. Every so often we would find a note taped above the mailboxes informing us that someone, at some point in the next few weeks would be entering our apartment...usually for some random "inspection". We never knew if these inspections had ever happened because no one ever left a note saying they had been in. Also, some of the letters we received from management were BEYOND unprofessional. Particularly the one that let us know that we did not live at the Quincy dump, so we shouldn't be leaving trash all around the dumpsters. Had they been emptied regularly, I doubt there would have been a problem.

Needless to say, we're happy to have moved on. P Estates may not be the most expensive...but you'll make up for those savings in huge electric bills. Look elsewhere!

I am going to sue Presidential Estates soon. If you could contact me at voodimac@rocketmail.com, we can either file the suite togather or I can file it and you can be a witness.
