We were really impressed by Avalon Blue Hills, location is beautiful, property is new, the guy who showed us the property, Justin was nice. We gave the $500 deposit 3 months before the joining date.

But, my job relocated and we had to leave the state. We have contacted the property right away and told them we can't move-in and we would like our deposit back, they said it will take 45 days to return the money since it went to main office. We thought that is fine. Well, after 2 months, we still didn't get our deposit back. When we call this property, they say the corporate office takes care of returns, we can't do any thing. I took that number, called them multiple times, and every time I was assured that our money is on the way, only to wait for a week and call back. My job relocating date was only a week away, I called main office and explained how I am leaving the state, and after that if the mail comes in, it would be a problem for me. The lady said she will FedEx it next day. 1 week has gone by since that call... still nothing in my mail box. I am just so upset over this entire thing.

The city I am moving to also has Avalon properties, but after this experience I have decided not to deal with this property any more. Writing this review to warn the renters not to put deposit down unless you are 100% sure of your job and moving in dates.

Since I haven't lived here, I am not sure about any of the parking, noise, grounds... that sort of things, so I am leaving them at their default 3 star rating.

I don't mean to be a prude, but what do you think a deposit is? Companies don't just up and relocate on a whim. Obviously you at least had a small hint that a relocation was possible. You shouldn't have committed to something when you knew there was a chance you wouldn't be able to come through. Not putting a deposit down unless you're 100% sure of something is just plain common sense.

Just wanted to update my review, I got my deposit back. About the comment, we did not know about the relocation. We gave the deposit 3 months before our move date, at hat point, every thing was good in my company. I came to know about this after 3 weeks. Why would I take trouble of renting a place in MA, when I know I am relocating to another state? I can think of lot of other ways to spend a weekend. And yes, these days you have no clue what is happening in side companies. Every thing is fine and dandy one day, and next day 10 cubes next to you are empty. Our company is not just up and going any where, it is shifting employees in their existing branches to suit their needs. One more thing to learn about Blue hills, if you complain about something, you get this kind of responses back.
