okay, but not the greatest...

Highland House is a very convenient place to live-- close to the highways, right across the street from the grocery store and drugstores. The high school is also right across the street-- so proximity is fantastic.
However, it's also extremely noisy. While some of the other buildings might be quieter, the ones near Highland Avenue are assaulted by constant fire truck sirens due to the proximity of the station. Semi trucks unloading at the grocery store are usually the first sounds of the morning.
The buildings themselves are okay-- not great, but not horrible. Everything's a bit run-down looking. The two-bedroom apartments are a comfortable size and very functional design-wise. They aren't that updated with their utilities, however-- the heat is iffy and kitchens have no dishwashers.
Maintenance workers are friendly and prompt with any problems. No complaints there. The buildings and grounds are maintained, but are pretty average-- not a lot of "niceness" about the place. It feels like an apartment complex, more than a neighborhood or community.
Compared to area rents when we moved in, things were quite reasonable, but you don't get a whole lot for the money outside of a comfortable-sized apartment. We're content to stay, but do hope to move up to something nicer.
