Hi. I am thinking about moving to Rosemont Square and would like someone to help me please. I notice negative reviews such as crying babies, trash and gangs and no security. What I am not hearing is: has there been a need for security has there been any breakins, have you been a victim of crime or is your car not safe' Has there been any violent crime or are you afraid matters might lead to violent crime. Also, what about rodents and bugs in the apartments' These matters are important to me. Also, what buildings pertain to these negative reviews' I'd like to get a good idea of which one's seem to be the problem, maybe it is just the building.
I viewed a couple of apts and they are spacious and livable, nothing over the top. I actually turned down one because I didnt like the actual building itself, it was too far from management and felt people would try to have there own way there. Tenants had their belongings in the laudry room and shoes in the hall. That was the only building I saw this in.
Also about the noise, the 1st apt I viewed when I walked in the building there was someone underneath blasting their music, but when I got inside the apartment I didnt hear a thing. (And trust me I was silenting for it) I totally forgot the music was on until I walk out of the apt and heard it blasting again in the hallway.(which was annoying) But again this was a building that was closer to management.
I did notice kids/teens hanging out by the pool or tennis court not sure what it was. They didnt look like gang members to me. Have they ever threatened you or are they just annoying' The community is on 38 acres, so I assume kids/teens will congregate somewhere. I also, took a drive around at night and didnt see anything pressing. I did see some dumpsters with trash outside by building 17, but the ones closer to the lake were practically empty. (that seems weird)
Any help will be appreciated thank you for your time. This is community is only getting a 3 because you have to give a review.

what time of day where u here? friday night?, sat night? Types of sec.issues. car breakins, drug sellers, vandalism. That is just what I know about. music, noise etc. depends on the building. Older long term less kids, = quiet. newer, lots of kids = less quiet. that is true any where. I personaly do not have insect or rodent issues, again longterm, older clients.
Been lots of issues with upkeep. What used to be a tennis ct is an epicenter of issues. I think that the management after almost 2 yrs of loosing paying customers is starting to take a look. So far with mixed result. Honestly could not recommend it, but it would largely depend on the building. the 1st 5 seem to be okay. they tend to be more expensive and harder to get.

Hm, I'll try to answer some of your questions, but I can only speak from my personal experiences. I've lived here since July 2008 and am happy to say that personally, I haven't been a victim of a crime here. However, I know that there have been incidents for other people, but I don't know which buildings. Security here is a bit iffy, there are some things that definitely make living here unsafe sometimes, but I really can't go into details...don't want to give anyone a roadmap of how to break in the building, you know? In my experience management has been really slow to fix things that compromise security.
The closest we've ever come to being victims of a crime actually involves the management/maintenance themselves. The management and maintenance workers do not seem to think twice before entering your apartment without permission. Even though we are on their list as having a dog (thus they are not supposed to come in without permission and supervision) they have entered our apartment several times. The creepiest was when they were still doing building renovations; i'd wake up in the morning to find out that the maintenance people had been wandering around in my apartment while I was still sleeping - bastards don't even lock the door when they leave. The management also apparently did the yearly apartment inspection one morning while I was asleep - that was fun. If you decide to live here, I recommend that you always sleep clothed.
There have been a few issues with bugs. We've seen a few silverfish on the carpets, not enough to be an infestation, but just a few every couple of months. Things aren't really fitted well, at least in our apartment. Around the sliding doors, air conditioners and windows there's lots of space for bugs to crawl right on in...not to mention it's drafty as hell in the winter and the heaters barely work. So there have been the occasional ants here of there, and we had a HUGE problem with wasps and stuff for a few months. Due to lack of response from the management, we ended up having to tape up a lot the holes, which helps keep the bugs - and cold air - out.
Since you said the bug issue was important to you, i'm going to assume that cleanliness in general is of importance to you, so i'd like to mention the geese problem. There is a flock of geese that live permanently on the grounds - as far as we've seen, they don't leave even in the winter. They roam in groups throughout the complex moving from grassy area to grassy area and leave a MESS. You can't walk on the grass without stepping in feces, and the walkways are covered in it as well. It's disgusting, and pretty much impossible to avoid. We had to make a rule of taking shoes off before entering our apartment...but between inconsiderate guests, any dogs you have, maintenance workers, etc I can guarantee that if you live here, it will find it's way in sooner or later. For some reason, I really wasn't too concerned about it before we moved in, but it has actually become a big issue. Don't think you can avoid it by living in a building far away from the pond, we tried that, but the little buggers make sure they hit every building's lawn sooner or later.
There's also a pidgeon problem on some of the balconies. Nothing seems to really scare them away and they leave a mess, making the balcony unusable unless you clean it daily. What's even worse is when they put new doors on the balcony storage closet, the doors don't fit and constantly open themselves when the wind blows. From what i've seen, almost every apartment ended up with the misfitted doors. For us, the pidgeons ended up going in there to do their business.
To comment on other things you've mentioned; Our laundry room is rather unpleasant. Only one or two working machines, the room is hot as hell. People do tend to leave their stuff everywhere. Noise isn't much of a problem, we rarely hear noises from other apartments. The hallway is the problem. Be warned, that even the slightest whisper you make anywhere in your apartment will be heard by anyone in the hall and vice versa. It's as if the wall wasn't even there. I was horrified one day when I was in the hallway looking for my keys and I realized that I could hear my husband loud and clear as he typed on his laptop and hummed softly to himself in the BEDROOM.
There ARE a lot of kids, but there's nothing really sketchy about them that i've seen. The worst behavior we've personally seen from them is their tendency to dash behind your car when you're backing up, lol. I would really hesitate to call any of the groups we've seen around "gangs"...but I admit it can be uncomfortable when they congregate outside the entrances and they all stop talking and stare at you as you try to enter or leave the building. It would probably be less uncomfortable if we actually KNEW the people in our building...but everyone keeps to themselves and avoids each other. It's not the friendliest place to live.
The quality of the apartments themselves is so-so. We were highly impressed when we first moved in, and we had the luck to get one of newly renovated apartments. But as time went on, we really became aware of just how shoddily it was done. Again, I can only speak about our apartment. The carpet was plushy at first, but after a month or so of walking on it and vaccumming, it thinned considerably. But even right away we noticed how it seemed like the floor underneath had holes in it and that in some places it was like they hadn't cleaned up the debris from the renovation and just carpeted over it. Little piles under the carpet crunched under our feet, and I stepped wrongly on one of the holes/divots once and sprained my ankle. We walk carefully now....
They told us that they had decided to focus on other things to renovate and were not redoing the floors in the bathrooms. I think this was a mistake as the old tiled floor has continued the chip and crumble under our feet. I recommend people get a large bathmat.
Multiple tv's and computers might be a problem for you. When we had the comcast guy here to set things up he told us that the only place "cable ready" or whatnot was the living room, and that what looked like a cable jack (I don't know if that's what it's called, i'm horrible with this kind of stuff) in the bedrooms was actually something left over from a security camera system or something. He said the only way to have tv in the bedrooms was if he "ran cables through the heater and through the walls into the other rooms and"....eh, in the end we just stuck with having only one tv in the living room. It's not the end of the world, but i'd hate for people who really enjoy their tv's to run into a problem like this after they've moved in.
The kitchen is pretty nice for the most part. The oven/stove model they've installed can be tempermental, so prepare for a lot of trial and error with either trying to get things cooked fully or trying to keep things from getting scorched. The counters are a little tilted and badly fitted, especially the breakfast bar, so things can slip between the counters and the wall.
Also, there was an article not too long ago about how they plan to get rid of the tennis court, and build new buildings on the field in the middle of the complex. So soon, there is going to likely be a lot more construction, even more people and kids around, and no more pretty views of the pond for most of us.
That's all I can think of really. It's not a HORRIBLE place, but a lot of small things can start to irritate you enough to make you miserable. Personally, I wouldn't recommend living here...but for the area, any place nicer seems to be a good deal more expensive. If you can stretch your budget to afford someplace nicer, you really might want to find somewhere else. We're hoping to move out of here soon ourselves. Oh, and I know you wanted to know the building number, but I'm really not comfortable giving it out online. I wish you good luck though!
