Just thought I would let everyone thinking about this place know that they have been jacking up rent like crazy here. The 2 bedrooms are at the full $1650 price and 1 beds are at $1350 (from $1,100) which is ridiculous for this area. Everyone I know here that has a lease expiring is not renewing and moving out. Management doesn't know anything about retaining maximum occupancy levels. If they had only gone up a little bit, like $50-100, all the tenants I know said they would have renewed. Now the company has to try to find new tenants for those empty apts. while they aren't collecting any rent. Very costly and bad move in my opinion.

Maybe you should read your renewal letter because my rent went down on a 6-month lease. The management is just asking for you to take your special upfront, they aren't raising any rents. Hawthorne Commons is a lovely community. I have lived here for 5 years and will never move. I love it here.

The response on 4/25/2007 is false. Management is raising rents. Yes they are offering specials for renewals, but with jacked up monthly rental rates the amount you pay over the course of the lease usually works out about the same. The problem is the next time you renew your lease its based on the higher montly rental rates. As a result, what you pay for a given lease term rises considerably. The old managment team used to have specials at every renewal as well, however, they did not raise monthly rental rates. The new management is sneaky.
