Dear Reviewer,
I've enjoyed my neighbors here..they are nice, friendly professionals. We first got to know each other in the winter, shoveling out the lot and our cars, which despite plowing, had 3-4 ft of snow behind the row of them. The extra shoveling created a kind of bonding time and a discussion about the apartments.
I met 6 neighbors that morning. Out of the six, four found it impossible to heat the apartment above 60. All had a heating bill that varied between $250-400 for a 2 bedroom apartment. All six had had some sort of maintenance problem. All agreed that the maintenance people (super short-term problem solvers) were very considerate and nice, but that with things like heaters, there was little they could do. The consensus was that that is more of a management decision.
Three of those people had talked to management how the heat was an ongoing problem. Two were younger. The two younger people (25-35) said that the manager had treated them rudely and condescendingly and tried to imply that they were doing something wrong that was causing the heating problem. The older person said (40-50) that management was very polite, and said they would investigate whether they should replace the heaters in that person's unit.
All six of those people reported a variety of other maintenance issues such as leaky toilets and faucets, faulty windows and screens, wobbly fans that knock back and forth, and broken appliances (the garbage disposal seemed to be the most common).
I only asked my fellow residents at the time because this place was just a string of maintenance problems and I was wondering if it was just happening to me. I moved here for comfort, and told myself that paying the higher rent--(about $300 more than the local average) would be worth it. It wasn't, since at least every other month I had one of the friendly maintenance guys in a different section of my apartment fixing things.
I am writing this, having moved to a nice apartment in the neighborhood(it took a patient two months to get set up with the new place, since the good places have few vacancies).
I am writing because I want people to know how bad this place is in the winter, and the fickleness in the office staff's demeanor.
I am writing because I lived in blankets for three months.
I am writing because while I still lived there, I avoided checking my mail during office hours so I would not have to patiently endure the office manager, who was always rude and condescending when I was forced to talk to her.
I am writing because I spent the summer by the pool to cool off, because my air conditioner took 6 weeks to fix.
Lastly, I am writing because I want to warn any future tenants about this place before they sign the lease. All of the tenants around me were very nice and friendly, only one remains to move out of Rosemeade, and I would hate to see any other individuals like that, good people, get stuck with such a lousy service.
