Frankly, I hated the place
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 8/2/2004
Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
There were many reasons:
1. Ongoing maintanenace issues.
I lived there for a year and out of that
year the maintance guys had to come to
my apartment 16 times. Four of those
visits were evening emergency visits.
(no heat, and flooding). Others, thank
goodness, weren't as critical.
2. Excessive heating bills. (You pay for
what you use). The paranthesis in a
previous comment,( Emma and her Dad), ia
true. However, all apartments are not
created equally. To heat my apartment to
60 dgrees, I paid 350 in Jan, 300 in
Feb(a short month) and 365 in
March.Despite this, I only successfully
maintained 60 because I put my
thermostat at 85. There were times I was
unsuccessful, even doing this.MY
evidence is frozen pipes, and seeing my
breath when I woke up in the morning.
Oh, and the thermostat.
3, Incorrigible office staff. (You catch
more flies with honey). That is a cute
parable.Why yes, you do. but I don't
like flies(they frequently flock around
feces),although many flew in my
ill-fitting screen door, and you
shouldn't have to drop honey to get
decent service. Yes, you should treat
others with decency, but it doesn't get
you very far in negotiations with the
office staff when they have failed to
do their job after a third attempt of
fixing it. When I complained directly to
the manager about my heating problem, I
was told it was not considered an
emergency (THE DAY I COULD SEE MY BREATH
WHEN I WOKE UP, and a pipe was frozen)
and that she wasn't going to be bothered
with it. I had to file a complaint with
the town clerk to get anything done.
4. There was no privacy. Yes, for absolute
privacy, you should own a house. My
privacy was not kept due to maintanance
problems, but also because in the back
lot where I lived, the buildings were
very close together, and there was
little space between the road and all of
my windows. If I had known, and been
able to walk through my apartment(they
wouldn't let me because they said they
didn't have the key right then, but that
I shouldn't have any problem because it
is JUSt LIKE THE MODEL), I never would
have given a deposit. It wasn't like the
model. The moral: DO NOT TRUST THEM FOR
ANY REASON.
5. Plowing was never done before I had to
go to work at 8 am. On weekends, I was
snowed in because no one ever plowed
before 3. If there was a storm on Friday
and Sat.. no one bothered to plow until
late Sunday.
5 reasons. Many more, but I think these are sufficient enough for you to get a picture of the place.
