I rented the apartment because I was new to the area (job transfer) and these apartments had vacancies where no one else did. That should have been my first clue that this place wasn't all that; that and the free 1 and 1/2 months of rent. However, it seemed nice enough, and it was the only thing I found on rent.com.

My troubles there were mostly maintance issues. The maintance crew was great; but there is only so much that can be done when the place was built shoddily. There were lots of random problems. I also found it cold in the winter and the heat to be what you would pay to warm an old house with poor insulation and old windows. ($400 a month in the winter).

As for the office staff, they always relayed the problems to maintance, and that was about it. They were pretty hands off so I don't know much about their personalities.

I did get my security back within 30 days, but initially they did try to get me to stay on for an extra month. They said I didn't give the notice required by contract (60 day notice), but that turned out to be a clerical error on their part, and it was quickly cleared up when I produced a copy of my notice of termination that they had signed for by certifed mail, at the correct date.

The price for the place is also rather high. I had a two bedroom.. and I paid 1000/mth. I have found better apartments for 800/mth after only searching for a few weeks. They also had the same amenities. Financially it was just smart to move elsewhere, and the shoddy building job just sealed the deal.
