Its nice, but it has its flaws

Years at this apartment: 2007-01-01 - 2009-01-01
We lived at Rosemeade for 2 years. It wasn't too bad. The apartments look nice. Not enough storage space or counter space. We lived in a 1 bedroom on the 2nd floor and it was small. Once all the furnitures in, its small. Very expensive for what you get.
The buildings are poorly insulated. You can hear everything going on outside, with your windows closed and everything going one in the apartment next door. Somethings you don't want to here. Everything is electric. In the winter its gets very expensive. They tell you to keep your thermostat at 65 (minimum) We did that for the first 2 months we were there, Dec and Jan. Our bill was over $250. We cut back to 60 and our bill was still around $175. So the poor insulation sucks. If you use your fireplace, don't use it more than your lease says...one of our neighbors used it every day, all day...guess what??!! CHIMNEY FIRE!! no way! They don't clean them like they should, so when they say an average of once a week....do it!
The grounds are well kept and the pool is nice. Sometimes people let their kids run around with no clothes on...not so appealing for a swim. The summer we moved out they were painting the trim on the buildings and trimming trees and things. For about 2 weeks their were workers outside your windows and on your balcony doing something, painting, power washing. It became very frustrating. Even on Sundays! They would warn you that it would be happening, it just never happened when they said it was going to, always 2 or 3 days later.
Parking can be a problem, especially if you have more than 1 car. If your looking at a first floor apartment with windows facing the parking lot, don't. You'll have headlights in your bedroom and plows pushing snow right up to them. PLus people walk right next to them. CREEPY
They allow dogs. We have one and it was nice. The only thing that wasn't good was people didn't always pick up after them. We always did and managed to step in someone elses dogs crap. Also if a dog is a bit of a barker, remember...bad insulation..everyone hears it...allllll day long.
Maintenace and management were nice. We didn't have any problems with them. Just take pictures of your apartment when you check out...and clean your fridge and oven when you move out...its a $75 charge each if you don't. We did, they just told us that after they were expecting to find it dirty. Don't give them another reason to take your money!
The residents are people. Some are nice and considerate, others are rude and inconsiderate. No matter how nice you are to them. People ruined it for us. Loud neighbors, excessive barking dogs below us (so loud), stepping in dog crap, slamming doors, parties, kids playing outside and throwing toys at patios and beating other neighbors cats with sticks, and bad parking jobs. Yes, the cat thing did happen.
If you rent with the fact it's an apartment in mind, you'll like it. That's what it is. If you are going to live in an apartment your're going to deal with all that crap no matter where you go.
