I have lived here for a long time and loved it for most of the time, until...the complex was sold to the company that also runs the Armory Commons in town. The change is unreal. The place changed from luxury downtown apartments to just more of what is bad about Springfield. I am surprised no one has been mugged in the hall yet. The residents moving now seem like section 8 people. The manager parks her car on the sidewalk infront of her office like a trailer park. She started that after she screwed up the deal the last manager had with SPA, the other result of that situation is it now cost twice what it did a year ago to have a parking space. There is trash in the halls almost everyday, and I cant tell the maintainence people from the homeless, mostly because both groups do about the same for the building.

Management regularly threatens eviction and now charges late fees if the rent is late, even though when they owed me money for an overage, it took then two months and legal threats for them to credit my account. They would make a slumlord blush with the way they treat people, and it seems the only way to deal with them is to be a SOB all the time. I will move out soon and I'm sure they will keep my deposit and try to rip me off anyway they can.

I live in the Lyman Street building, and I have to agree with you 100%. I moved in 2004 when Dawn and Laurie were here. No, they weren't perfect managers, sometimes you had to follow up a little more, but once they sold the building... eck! I loved your comment about the trailer parking. At least she doesn't have to pay the $75 a month, right? :) I personally have never had a problem with the new managers, just the caliber of tenants they rent to. I know what I had to provide to get an apartment here, I can't imagine the guy across the hall from me who punched a hole in the wall and then was arrested after EVERYONE called the cops could possibly provide a stupendous record of employment. For these reasons, I am moving out very soon. I have had it with douchebag neighbors with surround sound stereos in a 700 square foot apartment. Man, does anyone remember the old maintenance guys? Tingo got me a brand new A/C and fixed my fridge mere HOURS after I put the request in. He was the best. The new 'maintenance' guys pretty much just sort of empty the trash and poorly paint the halls. The whole building looks trashy now.
