Don't be snowed before you move in. Not Luxury Living!

Ok,
I found this place off of Craigslist.
I was told it was posh by Boston Commonwealth and it seemed that way to me...

Requires credit check, first, last, security, and $75 fee for decals, card, and keys.

These are nice looking spacious 1000sq ft apartments, but be forewarned....

There are soooo many rules. If you own a truck or have friend who own a truck or van, don't move here. They will be snubbed and not allowed to enter the property. It does not matter if they are handicapped.

You must have WHITE curtains.

No laundry before 7am or after 10pm.

Laundry is $1.50 a wash and $1.50 a dry. Dryers don't work so plan on running the dryer 2x. Also, ladies...watch your stuff! I have one wierd neighbor who goes and takes your stuff out before it is done and sometimes steals your clothes and freely admits it.

You do get a nice storage pen in the laundry room and there are lots of closets in the apartment.

They do snow removal and do a super job, but please read the rules prior to signing your lease. You could face a fine if you do not clear your car off in a reasonable time and move it round the corner so they can clear the snow. This is esp. important if you travel or go on vacation during the winter.

Also, your guests can get fined up to $100 if they park in an unauthorized parking space. Again, this is in the lease.

Gym just got a new treadmill, but after finding used condoms in the sauna, I would not use that ever again in my life. ICK!
Someone put used equipment in recently and now the gym is too crammed with a bench press. You have to scoot around equipment to do exercises. This can be very dangerous.
Half of the equipment is broken anyway. Don't let the pics on craigslist or the internet fool you.

Guest parking does not exist. There are only 2 spaces up my way and they are always taken.
I kept getting told more spaces will be added, but for now there is a big pile of debris in the guest spaces. That does not do me or my guests much good. Also, if you are having a function, you can't park in the Terraces spaces nor can you park by the function hall as there are only 2 guest spaces to be had and they are usually filled up by my neighbors loud teenage kids.

The management is good and they keep the place up and fixed the leak in my roof quick, but the leaks keep happening!
Big problems with the roofs leaking in multiple buildings. Since I have moved in, every room has leaked and now plaster mesh and repairs that were made prior to me moving in are showing. Walls are cracking. Mold is growing, I am now sick because of it. They recently put new roofs on and guttering, but my roof is still leaking.

Security is good when people are looking. Card Keys are problematic and gate key code malfunctions often. There is only one good guard there who lets the residents in and doesn't make us do the hokey pokey to get in.

I moved into a gated community to have the rif raff kept off my property. It seems more and more college age kids and families with teenagers are moving in. Loud yelling in the halls at 2am and peel outs and screaming in the parking lot.

They do have CCTV.

Before you SERIOUSLY consider this place, ask for a copy of the lease terms and do a complete walk around. If someone won't show you something, that is a tip off. Also, ask to be shown how facilities in the gym work. Most often, the steam room or gym equipment does not.

If you don't move your car or your guest parks somewhere bad. They even can deny you guests if you have issues with parking.

I have lived here for less than a year and they just raised my rent from $1085 to 1105.

The heat blares in the hallways so much that it is like a greenhouse. Taps are RED HOT as well. If you have children, be VERY CAREFUL!

3rd floor is best, but floors are thin and even if you tiptoe I am sure as other posters have mentioned, it sounds like elephants walking. I am on the 3rd floor and when my neighbor downstairs gets up in the middle of the night, I hear his footsteps, my dresser shakes, and his fan go off in the bathroom. I can only imagine how loud I sound when I walk into something in the middle of the night myself!

Most neighbors are good, but sometimes you have to call security to tone the party animals down after 10:30pm if you want some sleep. Most times security does not want to be bothered and you have to kick it up a notch. Walls are so thin you don't know which neighbor the noise is coming from.
