The Worst Place I Have Ever Lived

I moved into Cliffside to go to college in Turners Falls, I lived in Nebraska previously and didn't have an opportunity to see what I was getting before I came out here.
My husband and I walked into a VERY small apartment, I really don't think that a hallway should also second as a kitchen, we were dumbfounded when it was very apparent that our apartment had not been cleaned before they allowed us to move in.
The carpet had HUGE dark brown/almost black stains all over it and reeked of beer and piss.
The countertops in our kitchen had also been used as a cutting board and had chunks and slices taken out of it which were filled with dried food (I am guessing that it was food)
Our cupboards were bowed and splintering horribly, and were most certainly not clean enough to put dishes in.
Next we went into the bathroom which had some sticky goo oozing out from in between the bathroom floor tiles, there are two "towel racks" on the wall both of which are broken.
The "closet" in our livingroom has foam stuffed in the ceiling for some reason, and it is covered in mold.
The paint in all of the rooms is bubbling and splitting open, the wall in our living room is breaking open and leaving paint chips all over the place.
We contacted the office asap to hopefully get the carpet, cupboards, and countertops fixed.
It took them THREE MONTHS to get this done!
When they finally came in to do the carpet the maintenance guys scratched up our walls (which we will not pay for) they entered our bedroom to install the carpet when we weren't home and moved all of our personal items to random places all over our apartment, the other thing that happened was that they didn't make sure that the bathroom door would open and close with the new height of the carpet and carpet pad, so now our bathroom door wouldnt open and close so we called the office again and their solution to this was to grind the bottom of the door down and leave a huge mess in our bedroom/bathroom.
When they came around to putting in the cupboards and countertops they tracked in tar on our new carpet that they had just installed, they managed to break the piping under our sink and they have since come back to "fix" that three times and it is still broken, they took the dishawasher out to put in the countertops and allowed it to sit on our new carpet and leek oil all over everything.
On top of all of that, there is no air conditioning the maintenance noise on a day to day basis is horrendous, for example, they will mow the grass at 8am right in front of your bedroom windows.
Our building is painted in lead paint so our cat is constantly throwing up from eating the paint that chips off of our walls.
In our "hallway" there is constant garbage and vomit from our loud drunken neighbors.
The walls are horribly thin, we can hear when our neighbors run the water in there kitchen sink.
The pool and tennis court is part of why our rent is so unbearably expensive yet for some reason two weeks after Memorial Day weekend when the temperature is in the mid nighties to hundreds our pool still isn't open and we get no explanations as to why or when it will be open and they do not offer a discount on rent while one of our amenities is un-available to us.
The other thing that really peeves me off is that none of the buildings are handicapped accessible this is offensive seeing as my father is handicapped and is now going to have an extremely hard time coming to visit me.
In the end I think Cliffside is ridiculous, horrible customer service, maintenance, horrible living condidtions.
I am moving back to Omaha, NE where I am going to have a apartment that is (no joke) three times the square footage than at Cliffside, I will have a washer and dryer in my apartment, dogs are allowed, AC is included, I get assigned parking, a pool, a fitness center and it is only $600 a month.

All I can say is thank goodness I only had to live here for a year.
I am never coming back and I feel bad for those of you that still have to put up with that place.

There was never communication from this resident that they were not happy. If the effort from this e-mail would have been put forth in communication to the management, we would have had an opportunity to make them comfortable. Sad.

There was plenty of communication to the office that we were unhappy they just never did anything about it, now that is sad.

It looks like the place hasn't changed much since I lived there 3 yrs ago. It was in horrible condition and the staff (2 people I came in contact with) were ridiculously stand-offish and snobby, and for that place? It's sad nothing has changed. I am glad to read this as I am returning to the Valley and looking at apts.

Looks like management is trying to respond after the fact. I live here and I am having a terrible time with managment's attitude. Everything the author says is true
