Trust these tenant reviews: Do NOT move here!!!

Sugarloaf is your typical slick willy apartment complexes, promising "FREE" heat and hot water and "FREE" cable and internet, some apartments have washers and dryers, you can have dogs, etc. However, what you don't know is that your heat/hot water, cable and internet, and living in general is compromised by these offers.

In my apartment, which we have been living in for 2 years (and then we're OUT), has been nothing but problematic. As far as heat goes, this winter was terrible. The boiler in the building was always out and good luck getting ahold of one of the two maintenance men for this emergency. Our temperature rarely worked in our apartment because of a faulty device, which took over a month for them to figure out and fix. We lived between keeping windows open and shivering under blankets, all the while manually opening the heat on the pipes to stay warm. Hot water rarely is hot, but a nice hot/luke-warm temperature for your showers. Oh, and don't be surprised if you get a one-day in advance notice that the hot water is going to be out in your building, it happens a lot.

Internet is another sad story. It never works. It is constantly on and off and sporadic, losing information while online is a constant struggle. If you have papers to write, it is almost a guarantee that the internet will be out. If the internet IS out and you decide to call the small and crappy company they go through to save money, good luck. They can never fix anything and will resort to saying it is "only your computer". If you weren't already paying ridiculous rent prices that aren't what they're worth, I would recommend getting your own internet from another provider.

Maintenance is non-existent. There are two people to run a huge complex and they are understandably busy. However, they start jobs and don't finish them. Most recently, they have raked up all the leaves from the fall/winter and left them in piles around the complex to be "picked up later", however it has been over 2 weeks. After the water main break in the large lawn in between complexes, the pile of mud, rocks, and construction tape has still yet to be touched. After many calls to the office and promises of work for over a month, nothing....I mean NOTHING has been done.

The worst thing about this apartment complex is the management. I have never seen the same person in the main office more than twice. This results in a complete inconsistency of promises, policies, and actions. They are all talk, never follow up with any complaints, and do a terrible job of managing a large apartment complex. If I were the overarching company, I would be absolutely ashamed of the work. But then again, then I'd be making a crapload of money off of innocent residents in a very sleazy way.

I wish there was a way, other than this website, to talk to prospective residents and urge them not to move here. I am not a spiteful person, I am actually pretty easygoing. I have also lived in some really bad apartments and this one by far is the worst. If you are looking to live in sunderland, try Cliffside. The apartments are small and somewhat outdated, but the management is SUPERB. Otherwise, don't live in sunderland at all and definitely not at Sugarloaf. I beg of you. Look at the other reviews for this place, all these residents have learned from experience. Don't make the same mistake we had. Don't move to this place.
