Best place I ever lived

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
I had to move out because I relocated for work and having left about 2 months ago I STILL wish I never left. I'm being very nestalgic just writing this review because I'm looking to move out of the crap rebound apt I ended up in and I would move back to Shawsheen in a flash if it wasn't too far away. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT there. Be careful when utilizing the reviews to make your decisions because you can tell who lived in the newer (6-7 year old) building and who lives in the cheaper brick building. I lived in a newer building, 3rd floor. I never had any problem that didn't get resolved within 24 hours. When I moved in my dishwasher wasn't working and by the 2nd morning I woke up there I had a brand new dishwasher. I appreciated the fact that they didn't waste time trying to fix the unfixable and invested the money into just buying a new one even though all my appliances where 3 years old or newer. The maintenence staff (Sal and the other guy who's name I can't remember sorry) went above and beyond on a daily basis. If they saw me walking to the trash they would offer to take it the rest of the way for me. On that note, the trash situation would be the ONLY thing I could say is not perfect there. There is one location and I would usually have to drive my trash to it but when we fought as a community for recycling we had it within 2 weeks. I even called once for a personal lifting favor and they were over within the hour. Great guys they are, treat them well. As for the office, when I moved in I wasn't impressed with the 2 staff members that were there (seperate from Andrea the manager who is amazing!) and within the year I was there those 2 were replaced with Alex (who's excellent and polite) and another nice girl who was helpful the few times I saw her. They go above and beyond to help you out and make sure you are comfortable, real top notch and I miss them! As for the bills that people were mentioning. I can HONESTLY tell you how much I paid and you can judge. I was on balanced billing (pay same amount monthly to spread out cost over the year) for gas and I paid $26 a month for 6 months and then they lowered it to $15 a month for the last 6 months and still ended up with a $25 credit balance left over. My electric ranged from $52-70 in the winter to $80-$110 in the summer with the average at about $75 a month. That was with two computers on all the time, two tvs running most nights, 2 people showering once a day (because your water is electricly heated), 4-6 loads of laundry a week and the A/C on most of the summer. Insanely reasonable, I miss cheap bills lol!
Here are my opinions on the parts of the complex they ask us to vote on:
Parking - There was TONS of parking, never had problems getting a spot near my door and I would often come home 1-2 am and always felt safe walking to my door (and I'm normally a nervous person...too much CSI for me)
Noise - I was on the 3rd floor so I didn't have people above me but I never heard my neighbors next door or below and the only time you hear noise is when people are RIGHT outside your apt door and if people are being abnormally loud outside (which was maybe 3 times in a year).
Grounds - Very well kept. We had a very tough winter the time I was there but they always started plowing while the snow was still falling and kept up on it. Never had problems with the walkway but they kept salt at every door in case.
Safety - Again for a nervous person I always felt safe there. On the grounds and in my apt. Very well lit and polite professional neighbors made me feel comfortable.
Construction - Insulation was great in my opinion, never heard my neighbors and kept heat/ac contained. Lighting was decent and I was in the Merrimack layout which I adored. Everything was clean and modern.
Maintenance - Can't say enough good things about these guys. They were my knights in shining tool belts while I was there. Quick and courteous.
Staff - Again, the currect staff (as of when I moved out in May 08) were like friends. Always polite and helpful and always had time for you even when they looked busy.
Hopefully I was able to be discriptive enough to show you that it was the best place I ever lived. I miss my cathedral ceilings and walk in closets that where bigger than my bedroom before it. I would move back there in a flash if it was feasable for my job. I hope you go see it for yourself!
