The apartments are overpriced. I've been living here for quite some time and the rent increases considerably after every year. If you are paying more than $1600-1700 for a 2BR, you are certainly overpaying. The carpet has not been changed when I moved in and there was a lot of hair on it. The toilet is quite old and run down, the doors are cheaply made and feel lightweight. In fact, they are hollow and the veneers tend to come apart. You can also hear your neighbors slamming their doors when they return home. My flush hasn't been working well even after repairs by the management. I have given up asking the management for help and fixed the flush myself whenever it stops flushing.
I have seen many other apartments in the Waltham communities and honestly, the two bedrooms aren't even worth close to the starting price of $1755 stated on the internet (at the time of my writing). I have found much better ones around the area so if you have time to spare, keep looking.
On a better note, the landscaping is nice and the shoveling during winter is quite good at Archstone. The apartment is also well heated. In short, the apartments are nice but not luxurious. They are clean and functioning but nothing more. Archstone Waltham is a livable place but the experience is not justified by the price you pay. You certainly can get much more for your money elsewhere.
