Just say NO

We have one of the townhomes.
The good:
A few nice neighbors who have been here forever
Pretty hardwood floors
Spacious enough basement
*MOSTLY* really pleasant maintenance staff
Safe enough feeling
Close walk to town
The bad:
Uncaring management
Appliances which consistently break and do not get fixed properly (by that 1% of maintenance which isn't good, but that's the only person who ever comes to fix our appliances. :-p)
Broken windows not fixed in timely manner
Poor parking availability -even dangerous at times for lack of visibility
Horrible paint work (contractors)
--basically they never stripped previous paint and then applied an acrylic over an oil. We have ripped paint and paint chips everywhere. The bathroom paint looks boiled off the plaster -no primer' We've had this fixed, once, but it looks so bad again I would be embarrased for any guests to use our bathroom.
Very small townhome layouts
Our back "courtyard" is a mess -management does not make any *serious* effort to clean up after messy neighbors, and if you are clean yourself, you can only do so much.
Pool is extra fee
Overall, I feel like I am paying $1450 for a slum. The "slumlords" in the office contribute greatly to this feeling. So, although I like most of the maintenance staff, and a lot of the neighbors, I cannot wait to move.
