I have been a tenant for two years in which I have not had major problems with the landlord. However, there were a few incidents that really pissed me off, and when I brought up my concerns with the owners, they basically blew me off.

For example, one evening I came home to find out that they enterred my apt, installed new window shades, and my own curtains lay on the floor. The real estate was unapologetic and claimed they called to warn me, even though they did not.

Another annoyance is that the mail boxes are too small and magazines end up in the common bin along with all kinds of junk. Every day you have to spend a minute looking for your stuff, it it has not been stolen. They also give you just one key that you can't replicate, and then charge you $25 every time you misplace it. I know other tenants are also upset about these things, and have been asking for better mailboxes for years. When I asked the owners to consider imporing the situation, they reacted with ill-concealed annoyance, and told me no one else complained and that the terms are in the lease.

So read the lease carefully and expect them to play hardball.
