OK. I have read all the reviews here and feel I need to give my opinion to potential renters. My wife and I have lived here for 2.5 years and it is a nice place to live. I'm not saying I'm going to spend the rest of my life here but it is nice. We know a lot of peole here and this is the sum of our knowledge.

1) Yes, all of the original office staff no longer works here. So what'

2) When I looked at the place I too asked about college students. Stacy, who no longer works there, told me they don't rent to undergrads. well, some of the kids I see seem a little to young for grad school.

3) I have never had a problem with hot water except when they fixed the boiler but that was for about 2 days ( 3 weeks', Maybe in your building but not to my knowledge. I know people in every building) . Never had a problem since.

4) Some of the construction and workmenship is pretty shoddy. My hardwood floor in the kitchen has slipped apart and has yet to be replaced or fixed. This has happened in other peoples places too. But remember these apartments are only 3 years old. Buildings settle things come undone. The construction workers and plummers, electricians, painters, etc... rush through big jobs like these to maximise $$. That's not an excuse just the reality.

5) The grounds are well kept and very pretty. There is a landscaping crew here every weekend.

6) Occasionally you do see dog poop. But it is hardly land mine central.


7) It has gotten pretty expensive . When we first moved in it was reasonable especially when you compare to other places. After some research I find it to be comprable to other luxury apartments. Now, they do seem to have different prices for different people. As I said we know many people here, some have places that are only slightly smaller than ours and pay about $300 less. Another family's rent didn't go up AT ALL ! When we tried to talk them down we could only get $50 taken off. Some of this, I'm sure, is market driven and some has to do with the fact that the 3 Celtics, 1 Red Sox ,lawyers, biologists, scientists, etc... can afford whatever Longview wants.

8) Of all the people we know only one has ever said anything about mice. Now, I'm not fooling myself or others but let's face facts. When you have a concentration of humans who produce garbage and heat there will be mice. Some reviews will have you believe it's a landfill or slum swarming with mice. This has not been my experience or 99.99% of the people I know here.

9) I have never had a problem with noise. Maybe I've just been lucky the past 2.5 years.No loud stereos, TVs, parties. The one person who said you can hear noise in the hall is correct but it is normal apartment living noise. It is hardly parades with elephants and marching bands.

10)Never had a problem with barking dogs. I do agree with one reviewer that the staff need to be on dog owners like flies on sh**. But other than follow them around 24/7 what are they to do' People need to be responsible adults.

11) With the exception of the Brandies campus the surrounding area is a crap hole. The again , so isn't ALL of Waltham. For that matter most of the Greater Boston Metro area, with very few exceptions is dirty and old.

12) It is very obvious that there are alot of people who grew up rich and are now rich adults. They don't understand what comes with apartment living. You have to deal with all sorts of people from many different backgrounds.

I have found that when reading reviews the people who write them usually have and axe to grind. I'm not saying that they make stuff up or don't have legitimate gripes but sometimes thier emotions get the best of them and they get caught in the moment.

Currently we are looking to buy or rent a house but if we have to stay here another year until we find something I won't bother me at all.
