UNLUXURIOUS LIVING

Here is the biggest problem I have with The Ridge. You pay luxury living rent to live in ghetto housing. I feel like I live in a college dorm. I'm a hard-working professional looking for a relaxing place I can call home and all I can do is call my apartment he!!. I live on the third floor and I listen to the relaxing sound of the neighbor below me snoring at night. In the second bedroom, I can hear just about ever word that my neighbors are saying. I've heard som interesting conversations to say the least not to mention the uncomfortable sound of them having sex. This is how thin the walls are.

Last week I was up all night because a car alarm continued to go off from 1:30 am until 7:00 am. It happened two nights in a row and it literally started to make me go crazy. The lack of sleep made for long days and it really affected me at my job.

I've read the reviews and the complaints of the snow plows. My bedroom faces the complex road. I know that the roads need to be clean but they spend hours...and I mean HOURS plowing even if there's only an inch of snow on the ground. I stare out the windows at times when I'm awake dreaming of sleep and I wonder what the he!! they are plowing. Besides the ploys there's some man on a bobcat type machine doing god knows what. All I know is that the beeping noise that continues to go off when it goes in reverse makes me want to poke my ear drums out with a spoon.

We have a dog and I love animals. I'm so happy this complex is pet-friendly. It's one of the view thing I do like. But, just about everyone else has a dog and there are too many who must think they are above cleaning up their dog's ----.

The apartment structure and all the appliances are so cheaply made. Knobs are constantly falling off the cabinets. Parts of my counter are being held down with tape. The heat will cost you a fortune in the winter because the draft coming through the windos could keep a room refrigerator cold. The kitchen and bathroom floor would be better off if it was cardboard. It's hard to clean and it's peeling up.

There is one trash area for the entire complex. I have to get in my car and drive the trash to the bins. Because of this, people like to use the small trash cans outside the building for their own personal use. The trash area is disgusting. I can't believe how filthy people are. You open the compactor and stick your trash in the slot and close the door. For some reason, people can seem to grasp this concept, therefore, there is trash everywhere.

Final comments -- if I was paying maybe $500/month less, my gripes wouldn't be so lengthy. I always say, "You get what you pay for." Here at The Ridge you pay for Luxury but I promise you, it's not what you'll get. Unless you can get one he!! of a deal on rent, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

I'll start by saying I thoroughly enjoyed my 1 year at the Ridge. There's a poll, a small gym but a gym nonetheless, the landscaping is clean and maintenance is good. But the construction is incredibly cheap. Having experience with these types of buildings we made sure we had a top floor apt. Thinking we would not have to deal with neighbors above us, instead we had the one below us. Cranky ----- she was, guess I can't blame her for the floors that are probably not up to code. We could not even watch the tv without her banging a broom on her ceiling. We had 6 friends over for a Christmas gift exchange and she did this every 15 minutes the entire night. It was embarrassing. Also, they took money from my deposit for the cost of a new blind because one of the fins was broken. I know it was not like this as we left the place mint and I can almost guarantee a staff member broke this and charged us. There is no getting this money back. Not a lot, but just principal. It is EXTREMELY expensive for what it is. Expect to spend a lot on utilities on top of the rent because none are included that means water too. Even monitoring your use and heat expect to spend $300 a month on a 1 bedroom. The lifeguards are d0uche$. They tell you to get out of the pool when a cloud appears. The pool is also rarely open. They open it for 2 maybe 3 months out of the year and close it in the afternoon before you're back from work or whenever they feel like it. Parking was never really an issue for me. But expect to walk a bit if you get home later. Overall...the location and grounds are nice and maintained. The buildings are cheap. I wish they would spend some of the landscaping $$ on upgrading the units but that's simple marketing for you. If you have the money for it (as most of the Bentley students do because they are all foreign and do not have to pay for their education, and drive nicer cars than most CEOs) then go for it.
