Avoid at all costs

Years at this apartment: 2005-01-01 - 2006-01-01
Hi folks, I reside in a three-bedroom at Windsor Village. They are doing a five year renovation, nearing the end of the third or fourth year. Needless to say, depending on your location, you will deal with construction hours and noise, lots of strange workers (possibly illegals) and debris like nails, insulation and general construction garbage left behind as they move onto the next section. My apartment was just renovated prior to my move-in. Actually, they never finished. The exterior of the apt and the fencing remain unpainted almost a year after move-in. Daily I am greeted by raw wood, carpenter's notes and the feeling that I'm paying for something unfinished. All the places around me are finished and painted. PARKING: major alert. There are not enough spaces for each apt to have 1 car. The resident sticker and guest pass system is broken. Finding a space after 10pm is near impossible. Staff will tell you that they tow people who are not supposed to park. This is rare and has not proved a deterent. Because of it's proximity to the university's and the commuter shuttle bus, people use the complex lots like they're Massport lots, only they park for free, use the shuttle and get away with saving big money on Boston parking. In the winter '06, my roommates car was hit by one of the snow removal vehicles. Staff professed they could do nothing since it's an independent contractor. This issue is in the hands of lawyers but the important thing here is Mgnt did not stand up to the problem, they shrunk away. Wait until you see how many parking spaces their method of "snow removal" eliminates. If you like either loud talking/music/tv or peace and quiet, look out. Take a person with you to look at the apartments. Put someone next door and have them talk at normal volume. You'll be able to hear every word from the connecting apt. They may be rennovating, but the construction materials are paper thin. Location is good, many nice views out windows. Brrand new Shaw's Market 10 minute walk away, great Wild Harvest section in there. Panera's, Boston Market, CVS, gas and banks all very close by. I'm luck to be moving into a real home now, but if you're looking for a longer-term housing solution, look at the other complexes in the area and ask the tough questions of the Windsor Court staff. The person who sold us our apt no longer works there and turnover seems to be a problem. I cannot recommend this property. Thanks for reading.
