I like it!

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
I have lived in a 1 bedroom with my boyfriend and dog for over a year now. We moved in about 8 months after i graduated college and i was absolutely thrilled! of course after living here for a while some issues have come up but overall i have been very happy. My major concerns are
1) the pet rent! a large dog (over 25 lbs...''') is an extra $100 a month which is really crappy. I mean i could understand pet deposit, say if they pee on the carpet and they end up keeping it, but not to brag but my dog is an angel and its an absolute ripoff to pay that much for him to live here.
2) when we first moved in we had college kids above us...aka noise at weird hours. We complained to the office and they would call them but never anything more (we called 3 times in one afternoon about the loud music, nothing ever happened)we had to actually call the police one night it was so late. Since they left theres been no issues. I hear the dogs upstairs sometimes but not major. Generally families/young couples live here which keeps the noise factor down. Not sure they really regulate how many people live in some apartments though...(esp. with the college kids' just a speculation)
People complain about parking---i have lived here for over year and NEVER not found a spot. Sure if i get home really late (after midnight) i can't park near my apartment, but i've always found a spot somewhere. Same with my b/f. People here also complained about the staff. I have found them to be great. Very friendly,i bring my dog in the office to drop of my checks, they always chat/pet the dog. Nice on the phone when i call. Maintinence has also been great. We had an issue with our heating/cooling unit--took over a month for them to finally get it 100% fixed, but they were so nice! They came back to check on it often, would call me to check if things were working. they knew my dog and would be so nice to him when they were in the apartment which meant a lot to me. They know me know and say hi when i see them around. My b/f also reached an agreement with the complex to waive the pet fee for a month due to the inconvenience. In the end, you have to be the squeaky wheel! If somethings wrong, call. If its not fixed right, call again. the head of maintinence is awesome. If you have an issue with the complex, demand to see the property manager. Its not always fun to make a big stink of things but it gets the job done, bottom line, they are reasonable, you just may have to work to get it.
Other--storage is minimal, pool is great, gym is small but works doesn't get too crowded, no patio with the 1 br is a bummer, laundry in apartment rocks!
Also i think our apt was redone before we moved in--electricity and heat are very efficient! used to live in very old/poorly maintained houses in college and really appreciate the savings. They have fios which is a nice option to comcast. Also, i mentioned i could here some things from the apartment above, i can't hear a thing from the apartments on either side of me which is nice. They also do a great job maintaining the grounds which is a bonus. Can't complain when you wake up after a snow storm and theres a shoveled path from your doorway to your car!
