I've lived here for the past 3 years and absolutely love this place! I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family.

When I first moved up to MA in 2004, I visited several "managed communities" in the Metrowest area (Framingham, Natick, Southboro, Westboro, Shrewsbury). Specifically, Avalon at Flanders Hill was the first place I saw, then I went to see approx. 6-7 other places that day... but at the end of the day, A@FH was the most impressive.

The grounds are well kept, maintenance is on the ball with everything (requests typically gets resolved within the first 24 hours), and the leasing staff members are friendly and helpful.

However, now that my job is in Boston, I've started to look for an apartment closer to the city and was really disappointed in the places I've seen (I've checked out some in Brookline, Cambridge, Brighton, and Boston). None of the places come close to the amenities I currently receive for the price (even after I added 30% for the comparison of suburb vs. city living). I'm strongly thinking about keeping my current place and tough out the 2 hour commute to work.

Pros: great staff, fitness center available anytime, can borrow movies from the clubhouse, lots of free outdoor parking (with the option of renting a garage for a fee, though I'm not sure what it is), open layouts, W/D in each unit (no more collecting quarters), gas cooking, central air/heat, well lit (rooms, hallways, and around the community), fairly new appliances, garbage disposal, carpeted (except for kitchen, laundry room, foyer, bathroom... all the places where tiles are a better choice), and the commuter rail is a 5 minute drive down the road in the morning

Cons: sometimes I can hear my neighbors, electricity & gas are not included in the price
