Moved in 08/2006. Initially we were appalled by the demo unit we were shown- it was supposedly under remodel but looked somewhat like the Manson family had recently made a hasty exit. Happily the unit we chose was cleaner and in a cleaner, quieter building. Dishwasher broke and was replaced within 2 days. Some evidence of insects (dead) when we moved in, gave the whole place a good cleaning and all has been well since. Storage unit in basement = atrocious- basement smells like urine, don't count on using the extra storage space. Our laundry debit card was stolen from the laundry room (left it by mistake for a minute), so you cannot trust your neighbors. Parking can be a problem, winter may be an issue, haven't been here for a winter yet. $25 key fee for the gym- reasonable. Place overall is quiet, pleasingly diverse, great water pressure. Office staff are generally unmotivated and even uncaring if the answer to your question requires any effort on their part. However, the value (all utilities included) can't be beat and it is a good location. Largest apartments we have seen in the area and if the elevators are busy, there are plenty of stairs./// update 11.21.2007: Ok, winter parking has its challenges; the entire parking area is being reconstructed so hopefully there will be enough parking and we will not have to park at the nearby restaurant! some loads of laundry stolen from the laundry room, i guess we have better towels than most of the residents and they had to have ours. also, the smelly basement storage unit ws broken into and some a**h***s took somesporting equipment and dishes that had no monetary value but had been in my family since i was a child. And, the AC is shut off mid-September so we had quite a few sweltering nights in Sept and Oct. not so happy with the Fountainhead.
