you have the same experiences I have had. First the positives - I love the townhome style units, the central air, the washer and dryer in the unit, they allow pets and there is easy highway access.
Now the negatives. Just last week we got a "letter" from the staff giving us tips to be "safe" and that theft was higher during Christmas season. (such as do not walk alone, that one scared me) My husband and I had seen cop cars there a few nights earlier so we contacted the Westborough police department and found out that "Larceny" had taken place, this is on top of the rape from a couple years back - obviously they aren't strong with their safety.
Parking is horrendous. If you come home after 7pm - you won't be able to find a parking space near your townhome, you may not be able to find a parking space at all. Cars are lined up all over the place, anywhere people can fit them.
Now the snow has started early this year and the Windsor Ridge is extremely poor at snow and ice removal. One morning they hadn't sanded at all and I ice skated to my car. Also the plows will block your cars in with snow. When I asked them about plowing the parking spaces they said "snow removal in the parking spaces is the tenants responsibility" Yet we don't have assigned parking spaces, so sure shovel yourself out so you can go to work - but don't expect to have that parking space when you get home.
Our trash compactor/disposal keeps acting up. They came once and "fixed it" It acted up again, now it is so clogged everytime we run the water it smells like garabage. My husband called them to let them know and asked for help - no one has called him back.
The water in the shower is luke warm at best. They have the vent on so high (I am sure to prevent mildew) if you step out of the water stream for a second you'll freeze. I dred taking a shower every morning.
Our mailbox also has been broken for months, hanging on by a thread. I also asked them to fix it, well yesterday it fell off because it was hanging by a thread and the ice finally pushed it to the ground. My husband placed it back up, we will see how long it stays up this time.
I get home today and I come upstairs to my bedroom. My window is leaking!!!! The gutter above (which my husband also compained about a couple months ago and they said they "fixed") must of leaked so much water from the ice that it got into the window. Our mattress and blankets are soaked, the water is running down the walls, into the carpet and is covering the window sill.
So I call the Windsor Ridge, the woman was cranky towards me and said "can't you put a towel down for now'" (side note - my towel is now soaked so it's not helping any longer) she said other people were having the same problem and they were helping them but she could "put in a work order" for me. Needless to say no one showed up tonight.
Also just because it is a townhome doesn't mean you won't have anyone over you at all, at least in the one bedrooms anyways. In our living room the neighbors are above us. The floors are extremely creaky so we have spent days and nights listening to what sounds like constant power aerobics while trying to watch TV.
Plus they use pesticide on their grounds a couple times a month I believe (every two weeks' I am not positive) They say it is pet safe - but could any pesticide really be pet safe'
We signed a year lease, that means we will be giving the Windsor Ridge over $16,000 of our money for this place. Worth it' I say no.
