Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
We lived here for almost a year and we are about to move out. The management was OK overall not like other people complained, except those weekend part-timers (They were never responsive on every single request so far. So we just waited until Monday).
When we moved in last year, the parking was pretty bad because they had to make a few snowy mountains after the winter storms in the lot and there were almost no empty apartments. But now that many of units are unoccupied, it is OK. There are many visitor parkings near builing 1 for people with more than one car if they do not mind walking.
They got a new maintenance guy a few months ago. The old one did not seem to have any idea of maintaining houses well. So it is a good change.
One night, one of the kitchen shelf in the cabinet fell and a heavy glass bottle fell on my head. I lost consciousness for a second. When my husband checked other cabinets, all the shelves in the corner ones (the only ones that I could not readjust when we moved in due to heavy weight) were all badly placed, so another accident was waiting to happen.
The AC unit is noisy, but we got used to it. For a 2-Bedroom unit, we have been paying only about $200 per month for electricity bill during this summer, and we are happy about it. I guess the insulation is not too bad.
The appliances are pretty cheap though. Washer/Dryer are probably cheapest available, and the disposal is so tiny so that it could not grind anything, not even onion or ground meat. And the doors are made of very cheap wood.
Some people leave their garbage bags and dirty shoes out in the hallway. Sometimes they really stunk. I smelled of urine in the hallway once in a while. Probably a dog.
Despite those things I mentioned, if that was it, it would have been a quite decent place to live. It would not get any better anywhere else. But unfortunately, this building does not seem to have any sound proof between vertical units. I never had serious noise from next door, however, we were suffering from the noise from upstairs. We were quite unlucky about it too-- When we first moved in, there were people with hyper active 2-3 year old boy who goes running, jumping, and stomping almost all day long from 9 AM to 12:30 AM. And then somebody who never seems to sleep and always moving around moved in, which is quite intriguing. And the floor is getting squeakier and squeakier. They are even vacuuming at 6 in the morning.
One of our packages that was left at the door was stolen recently. Of course, we recovered it by contacting the seller, but we never could find it. It was a very shocking experience. It happened only once, but I felt unsafe living here since then. I guess that the desperate management has been giving out the apartments too cheap. The quality is going down. I feel sorry for the management team since they seem like trying so hard.
I did not want to make it sound like whining, but I wanted to write most of things that I have experienced here because this website was really helpful to us when we were looking for an apartment. I hope this will be a bit of help to everybody.
