We moved into the tower partly b/c a) the leasing office emphatically assured us numerous times that the units were VERY sound-proof and b) we were impressed by what the unit had to offer in terms of amenities and internet and phone options.

What we have discovered is that either the office is very poorly informed or we were deliberately misinformed. First of all, the units are not sound-proof at all. We can clearly hear people walking in the halls upstairs and downstairs, never mind on our own floor. Our neighbors are not particularly loud, but we can hear whole conversations through the wall. Whenever their phone rings, it sounds like our own phone is ringing. Also, the cigarette smoke from neighboring units travels through the vents.

Perhaps the most aggravating factor has been the lack of phone service. As far as we know, everyone here can only get voice over IP (which is incredibly unreliable) as Verizon has not yet provided service to the building. Cell phones are sketchy as well, since we have to go outside in order to get service, probably due to the concrete walls of the building (')

All of this is further frustrated by the fact that the office has been consistently telling us very mixed stories as to when phone will be available, and other smaller things like when rent coupons will be mailed out (was supposed to be two months ago, still hasn't happened), etc. It seems that the office might be really misinformed by management, or disorganized, or in an effort to be helpful, give out false info.

One other quirk...this apparently isn't the case in all the units, but in some of the units, there is a large shared AC/heating vent b/w the living room and bedroom. This means that if you were to look through the vent you can see everything going on in the next room. Plus, all the noise travels through the vent.

On the positive side, it's great to have the parking garage, large windows, and the laundry in the unit. Heat, AC, hot water are included which is a real plus. Everything here is new, too, which makes the utility bill a lot lower than in places where an older fridge might be using up lots of electricity. Also, there's a terrific view (if you're on the upper floors.)

We read the reviews on this site before deciding on moving here, and thought we were coming with fairly realistic (and low) expectations, but despite that, we are quite unhappy.
