1901 West, like all apartments, comes with some good and bad experiences. It's great being a few minutes from downtown restaurants and stores. 1901 West has a billiards room, theater room, internet cafe, small fitness center, and a pool. The layouts of the apartments are really nice. Apartments come with stainless steel dishwasher, side-by-side fridge, ceramic top stove, and above stove microwave. My apartment has a built-in computer desk off the kitchen. There is a closet with a stacked high efficiency front load washer and dryer. The bedrooms have huge walk-in closets. The hot water heater is located in a sub-closet of the master bedroom closet. My hot water heater doesn't make any noises unlike the other reviewers. I am unable to hear my neighbors which is nice. Although, I have talked to some fellow residents and they said they can.

Here are a few negative things about the apartment. The stove top has a burnt in ring from a pan during the first time it was used. The kitchen faucet has a built-in sprayer in which the coil popped off. I was unable to use the sink or dishwasher for 3 days. The manager did say she is recalling the faucets and a different brand will be installed. The washer and dryer do not use a conventional hook up. A plastic hose goes into a drain pipe behind the unit. It popped out during a wash and flooded the kitchen and foyer. My apartment did not have cable ran in the walls going to the cable jacks. It took several weeks to get my phone jacks working. I'm waiting for an appointment to be made with an electrician to fix 3 of my outlets. The maintenance guy took out the outlet and showed me the electrical tape on one of the wires. It looked like the majority of that wire didn't have the original insulation on it, which would be the reason it kept triggering the breaker.

The hallways are not enclosed and are subject to flooding during rain storms. The storm a few weeks ago severely flooded several apartments on the first floor causing mold and mildew. There is a hump in the hallways near the gates that are supposed to prevent rain from entering the hallways but it doesn't take in affect it runs down the stairs from upper levels. It basically prevented the water leaving the hallway. At first, 1901 West denied mold was growing in affected units and painted over infected areas, but the mold grew back. The residents later were offered a higher level apartment, but they chose to leave the community.

Residents, at least some of the kids, don't take care of the amenities. They have use the theater room without permission and fail to turn off the projector. Beverages have spilled on the carpet and one time the closet with the A/V equipment smelt like piss. One of the ladies in the front office has said tenants have damaged the TVs on the exercise equipment. They finally got some replacements.

There have been vandalism in the parking garage. There are not any mirrors going around corners. Residents frequently go 20 - 30 mph without their headlights on. I have seen 3 accidents. I thought 2 women were going to have a cat fight once lol. The management is in the process of removing the gates and replacing them with arms that will raise and lower. Some ignorant resident drove through one a couple of weeks ago.

My opinion is slowly deteriorating. A resident's friend has a boat trailer parked in the community for 6 weeks. The property manager posted a letter asking it to be removed or at least moved to the grass (to not take up 4-5 spots) or it would be towed. However, leases here clearly state not to park in the grass though. Two weeks later, some residents pushed it back on the grass to free up parking area. The temporary registration expired on June 20th and the damn thing is still sitting here. The management claims they cannot find a towing company that will haul away a boat trailer, even though Annapolis is "America's Sailing City". The Annapolis Police have been notified of the expired tags and have done nothing, perhaps because it is on private property.

My room mate informed the manager a month ago of a few mold spots and no one has come into our apartment to inspect it. The maintenance guys are cool, but it takes weeks to get anything looked at. They even make comments about other units experiencing the same problems; i.e. faucet/sprayer, washer hose falling and out flooding floor, outlets/telephone jacks/cable jacks not working.

Friday night/Saturday morning someone or a group kicked and pulled the gate (in the photo) off the frame. Maintenance took the gate off the hinges, but left the chain connected to it and it blocks half of the entryway.

Last night during the storm, I went up to the high floors to watch the lightening and the doors to the phone/cable closet was open. Also, there was a panel in the ceiling open allow anyone to jump up into the building's attic or gain access to whatever is up there.

One of residents moved out a week and a half ago due to mold infestation. The apartment has already been rented out!!! What happened to the standard 30 day period to allow adequate time to clean the carpets, fill in nail holes, and repaint if needed. The new tenants were told they were the first ones to rent their apartment unit. The burn rings on the stove and the horrible patch job that was done to remove the mold proved it wasn't. Hopefully they will let the management know and move into something better. mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH

The review is correct. Please post your review at http://www.apartmentreviews.net/. Every tenant I know is moving out soon and the number of tenants moving in has dropped drasticly.
