.....I can't stand this place! I have lived here for a year and half and have seen the almost complete turnover of office staff. Even with the new staff, things haven't changed much.

Here is my list of things that need to be improved:
1. Like other reviewers have said: the gates have NOT worked more often than they HAVE worked since I have lived here.

2. Blind corners in the parking garage are dangerous....mirrors would help a lot.

3. I have had several issues with the office staff not being able to find packages that they have signed for on my behalf...OR the package will be delivered, but I will not receive a notice in my mailbox for a week after the fact. I don't always know when packages are coming so my only option would be to go into the office everyday to ask if there are any packages for me--and who has time for that'''

4. Safety--the office was broken into more than once, I know that there was a recent occasion where at least 12 vehicles were broken into, and the area where this complex is located is not the best.

5. Construction--we received a notice on the door that said there would be some construction that would be completed in about 2 weeks....it was OVER 2 MONTHS of loud buzz saws, cherry pickers and hammering--and no updated notice was ever given as to when it would be completed or why it took so drastically much longer than Ms Cheeks said it would.

6. Mold--It is a problem all over this complex. They had to completely remove the siding and replace the wood on all 3 floors in the breezeway in the main building. One of the apartments had a notice from the health department on the door stating that it was unfit for human habitation and they had fans set up in the windows to clear the place out due to the massive mold infestation. I saw men in biohazard suits in the trash chute room by the back gate.....we residents don't get those when we move in so I fear for what me and my family are breathing in!!!!

7. Pipes bursting--One couple had their entire ceiling cave in on them while they were sleeping due to a burst pipe. They had called earlier that day to report a leak in the ceiling but maintenance couldn't come until the next day.....too late! Everything in their apartment was ruined. So the office staff promptly moved them to a new apartment....directly upstairs from their old one. Guess what' It happened again! Their apartment flooded again, the fire alarms went off again, and they lost the few things that they had replaced from the last flood! Not to mention that their neighbors apartments were flooded as well.

8. I know this really can't be fixed, but if you are looking to move here, just know that it is LOUD. The garbage trucks come at 8am, Pepboys is right next door and they are constantly banging until long after they are closed, and both West St and Chinquapin are main roads with lots of traffic, sirens, etc.

9. The washer/dryer are very small, loud, and it takes a loooong time to get laundry done.

Some of these issues are being addressed (mold, pipes) but some can't be (noise, not the best neighborhood). Overall, I would not recommend living here. There are many many other places to live in Annapolis that have bigger apartments for less $ in a nicer area. You never know what you're going to get when it comes to office staff, but overall here I find that Kathy in particular does not return phone calls when she says she will, Danelle knows there are problems here and is doing her best to fix them but becomes defensive if you bring them up to her, the other two ladies in the office just don't seem to have a clue about what's going on.

I would say that the best thing about living here is the Starbucks.

I actually feel that the community has made a complete turnaround in recent months for the GOOD. Gates work properly now even with the resident who decided to run into it a while back. My washer and dryer works just fine but apparently you have to use smaller loads if your used to full size w/d. I myself get packages quite often cause i sell cleaning supplies and never had a package lost, they recieve at least 30-40 packages a day and always put mine in a pile for me so i know where to find them when i come down to get them. For anyone who is concerned with noise level like anywhere else just don't get a apartment directly over the street and what do you expect your in the middle of the city. I've spoken with the manager about the mold rumor and she was very upfront she told me where they had a isolated incident and it was fixed immediately, to the person who posted this review you may want to speak with the office staff to get a more accurate idea of what is going on and fyi mold can grow anywhere. For anyone looking to move 1901 west is not a horrible place like some reviews state, i would have to agree with the positives. My previous apartment was old and outdated, i could never find parking and the office was terrible. Here i feel like the staff truely does care, matter of fact there have been several nights when i have arrived home late and the ladies were still there working and allowed me to recieve my packages. This last week they had a pool party and handed out breakfeast at 7am so i feel like at the very least for the ones that dislikes them hey at least they are trying.

As the 1st responder frequently receives packages, the staff have come to expect them and set them aside. I have had a few things delivered via UPS and never received notices. I am glad the gates are working and it will be nice when the yellow arms are replaced or removed. While they were broke, many cars were vandalized (but hopping the fence is just as easy as walking through a broken gate) and a few motorcycles were stolen. The management did host a breakfast and a poool party. They posted notices for the breakfast the afternoon of it. The pool party was nice; had a decent meal with ribs, chicken, pork, and burgers; a moon bounce, and music. I'm glad I don't live near the pool as sometimes I work nights and sleep during the day. The mold "isolated incident" was more than just the trash chutes. It occured in 3 apartments in building 1911. A new tenant was moved into one of the affected units less than 2 weeks after the previous resident left. The hallways are uneven and the first floors have splash guards that prevent water from draining. The washers and dryers are small and require loads smaller than a full size. I don't overfill them and it takes 3 cycles to dry my clothes. Many of my shirts and shorts have seams ripped due to the dryer. Selling/using drugs is becoming a problem here. People are selling/buying in the parking garage and building 1911. Noise from nearby businesses and main trafficways is to be expected. I didn't expect to hear noise from Pepboys well after their business hours ended. The other day a new resident was moving in at 2am. I do beleive Mrs. Cheeks is trying to improve quality of life at 1901 West, however it will take some time. For now, I agree with the poster that Starbucks is the best thing going for the community (although I am biased towards Starubcks).
