1901 West Street has an avalanche of problems.
Management brought in a consultant early last fall to see how they could make things better, but since Property Manager ----- ---------- has started, things have gone further downhill.
I mind my own business as a resident, and haven't had time to try out many of the complex's sparingly allocated "amenities," but now I know I won't even have a chance without a major hassle. In an email message today, ---------- informs residents that their once free-access amenities are now only available by reservation during the office's prohibitive business hours, and that use during business hours now comes with large fees:

Dear Residents of 1901 West;
I would like to take a moment to make you aware of all of the amenities that 1901 West had to offer you as a resident. We have had some updates in our policies so please read this letter carefully.
Caf Room: Open daily from 5:00 am to 1:00 am. This room is perfect for small gatherings, such as birthday parties and showers. Reservations can be made in the evenings after 1901 West business hours at no charge and can be reserved during business hours for a fee of $150. A deposit of $250 will be requested for all reservations.
Theater Room: By RESERVATION ONLY. This room seats a total of guests. Perfect for watching a DVD or a LOST marathon. You must see a 1901 West staff member to sign the room out prior to be granted access. You must be at least 18 years of age or older to sign the room out and listed as an occupant on the lease. A photo ID will be verified at the time of access. Reservations can be made in the evenings after 1901 West business hours at no charge and can be reserved during business hours for a fee of $150.
Billiards Room: By RESERVATION ONLY. This room is perfect for a pool tournament amongst friends. You must see a 1901 West staff member to sign the room out prior to be granted access. My lease agreement gave access to these amenities under much different terms, and I'm extremely offended by management's new policies.
Do yourself and your family a favor and don't rent from Bozutto's 1901 West in Annapolis. All the stories about maintenance inability, the gestapo management, and the shoddy construction and dog feces are true. (For a week there was a pile of pat dung in the middle of Building 2's stairwell. You will have to be quick on your feet to dodge the sidewalk petcrap minefield.)

I just read what management sent residents...what is the problem? Those are easy rules and were probably made b/c some residents were rude and took up ALL the time in the billard room, theater room...etc...etc. It seems like you have the problem...

I am a former resident of 1901 West (one of many that terminated my lease early). Access and use of these areas are part of the amentiy fee. I can understand a deposit to cover cleaning expenses if the room is left in a mess. ------------ is the Regional Manager to whom you should direct questions and comments if the current staff is as bad as it was when I was there.
