Bad Management, Apartments need work

Annapolis Roads' apartments are in a decent location for Annapolis, however, I wouldn't consider them on the water as advertised.

Overall, the apartments are old, appliances are very cheap (I experienced problems with my dishwasher, dryer, water heater, air-conditioner, and heater). There are many nicer apt. complexes in the area.

The maintenance staff are OK. They seem to do the best they can without spending any money. After experiencing a problem with our dryer, we were told that all the dryers in our complex had the same issue. Their fix was to jury-rig the dyer. I'm no electrician, but their 'fix' made me uncomfortable to say the least. When asked if we could simply have a new dryer installed, we were told there was no way management would spend the money to purchase one. I think the biggest problem is that the maintenance staff are told to fix things and given no money or materials to actually fix anything so they do the best they can.

The management of the apartment is particularly frustrating. While the rental agents were extremely nice, after you sign a lease you no longer deal with them. Instead you are left to deal with people who are very rude, demeaning, and generally very unhelpful. I am not sure how these people were put into a position which is required to deal with the public on a daily basis. Every encounter with them left me wanting to call their corporate office to report their behavior.

The complex is also raising rents significantly. After taking into account utilities (which used to be included with rent) they quoted me a raised rent of almost $1,500 a month for a 2 bedroom (for 2006 - 2007). There are much better apartments in Annapolis for much less.

In summary, Annapolis Roads seems to be hard up for money. Taking into account their rising rents (nearing outrageous), rude management, shabby apartments, I wouldn't recommend renting or living here to anyone.
