This place is a nightmare....

Well, my boyfriend and I are moving out now, am we couldn't be happier. When we first viewed the property, it was like a dream. Low rent, lots of space, and a private lake to boot. It looked perfect, and for awhile, it was. It didn't exactly end that way.
The first day we moved in, there was a gas leak coming from our stove, the gas smell was everywhere. The maintenence man showed up right away, which was great, but there was also a leak coming from our ceiling in the bedroom which they eventually came to fix a couple weeks later(they painted over it). Over a holiday weekend, one of our neighbors got robbed, apparently by gunpoint for money, and he got in because the "security doors" that you have to punch in a code for was broken, it wouldn't shut. And it still is, even after the robbery! Someone's car got stolen out of the parking lot, and maintenence in general is a joke. The floors squeak horribly, and the appliances are HORRIBLE. The dishwasher is older than I am, and I've told management about how it doesn't even clean the dishes. They send out a maintenence man who runs it through a cycle and says "still works". Ugh, endless annoyances and problems. I'll be happy to leave. There was one month that we paid our rent, and apparently we were eight dollars short, the gave us a written notice saying we had 15 days to pay it or te would take us to court. Ridiculous.
Now, so I am not unfair, I will note the positives. No problems with parking, or any real noise issues. The people in the apartment are friendly enough, even if no one really knows anyone else. They do have alot of community activities, although they don't pick the best times, i.e.- Painting class on Tuesday at noon' Great if you don't work, but otherwise bad timing. They also gave us a good incentive to move in, they dropped the price a month a couple hundred dollars a month. I can't think of anyhing else that's good.
Moral of this story, i would not recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a nice, safe place to stay. If you have to, just make the lease short and it won't be as bad.
