Rethink moving in

Where to start!! We moved in because of a recomendation from friends. Things were fine until the new management took over. So far all 5 of our friends have moved or are moving out due to the terrible change in the new management.
The area is unsafe. People have been mugged inside the buildings. Homeless people have been found sleeping in the laundry rooms. The areas that are the darkest have inadequate lighting, like around the pool area and corners of some of the buildings. Some buildings, like ours do not have connecting sidewalks or lighting between teh building and the available parking areas. Despite the crime problem, they have told us there was nothing they could do about the unsafe walkways.
Water backups are common becase they "painted" the tubs. The paint has been peeling for over a year with nothing done about it. The new washers and dryers have been put in the kitchen and when run vibrate enough to knock things off the shelves, both in your apartment and in your neighbors. We have on several occasions asked for a maintenence call only to be told to wait. Weeks go by before they report problems to maintenence, and only the head of maintenence has any clue what he's doing.
The office staff was wonderful when we first moved in. Not long after we moved in a new management took over and replaced the staff. The new office staff is rude and unconcerned with anything other than money. They are dismissive and paranoid. They are hostile and rude in situations where our lease (signed under the old management company) difers with policies on the leases they make new tenants sign.
Informational notices are only given 2 to 3 days before work is to be done. Often they only give a single day notice. They only gave a single day notice before repaving the parking lot last summer and gave no regard to tenants who might have been on vacation at the time.
The companies they employ to do third-party work & renovations are questionable. Workers have broken and painted over personal items placed on decks. The management company did nothing about it.
In short, there is no way I would recommend this apartment complex to anyone.
