I moved to Forest Hills towards the end of Summer 2007. I don't know much about the old management, but the new management to me doesn't seem all that bad. I know the lady who prepared my lease truly misses the old management. I think for friendship reasons more than anything, to be honest. She's still a really nice lady, none the less. She was able to help me and my confused little self about the lease agreement and all that comes with it.
The apartment I moved into was newly renovated with all kinds of neat gizmos and gadgets. The front loading full size washer/dryer conveniently located in the kitchen supports my "ultimate lazy" with great ease. All the appliances seem to work just fine, and they're stainless steel. Nice to look at until you have to figure out how to clean them without smudging them! Of course, not the fault of the complex, but moreso my inability to figure out the best products for such a task. I can't say all the appliances were installed properly when I first moved in (as to be expected with lots of new stuff), but I can say that the maintinence crew came in and fixed everything quickly. They're quite fun to talk to as well. Very trustworthy.
I really like how there's several buildings split up around the area, rather than one large building to house all of us. There's 2 floors and 8 units per building, which makes for a "community" type feeling in my opinion. I suppose it's the luck of the draw if you get obnoxious neighbors. I like everyone in my building and we say hi to each other when coming and going all the time, although I haven't been on best terms with the neighbor above me. The walls are incredibly thin, so everytime ANYTHING goes on (and use your imagination as you will, 'anything' is a powerful word), I know about it. There's been times where "the boyfriend upstairs" has come over, and I've relocated myself to my sofa to sleep because there's just too much noise. Again, not totally the fault of my neighbors, but the walls in this complex are devistatingly thin and I'm not entirely sure they realize it. This is the major drawback of this complex.
I have to say, we do have an issue with crickets as well. Management won't really do much about it. However, I haven't seen ANY roaches. No scary creepy crawlies, ants, etc. Nothing of the sort. Oh yes, and having assigned parking is quite a great thing.
Crime in Annapolis in general has been on the rise, and it's up the the community to keep themselves safe, aware, and alert. This is part of living in a city. I haven't seen or heard of any issues directly within the community since I've moved here. There are places within Annapolis that have truly seen better days, but I feel safe where I am. Further, I rather enjoy feeling like I live in suburbia even though I live in Annapolis-proper. There are a lot of local shops and coffee houses around the area, where everyone gets to know everyone and it's a really cool dynamic, and especially hard to find while living in Annapolis. Location wise, this is in my opinion, one of the better complexes that Annapolis has to offer. If absolutely needed, it is possible to walk home from Annapolis Main Stree since you're not that far away (you will burn some serious calories in the process, though!). As I've stated before, I might feel how the other people do that posted before me, if I lived in the building(s) they lived in, whichever they may be. It's really just the luck of the draw, and how your neighbors are.
Overall, I'd say Forest Hills is fantastic for the price. Yes, it's an older complex and doesn't have that same "vinyl" appeal that most of the newer complexes have. If you judge the book by it's cover, Forest Hills is not going to have the best looking cover--just an old (but clean!) one. None the less, If you have a bit more money to spend for rent, it's probably worth checking out other places as well. but you can't beat this price for a newly renovated apartment with all of the amenities this starving college student has!

Two ladies were mugged, at gunpoint, on separate occasions at 2 Bricin Street, in 2007. One was on the steps, one was inside the building. Only one of them was heard screaming, and it wasn't the one *inside* the building.
Forest Hills is spitting distance from Bay Ridge Apartments, who are featured in the City of Annapolis Police Report daily for shootings, stabbings, drug deals and all sorts of nastiness, and Robinwood is just down the street, which is just as bad, if not worse.
It's great that you feel safe, but don't be lulled into a false sense of security. You do not live in a safe neighborhood, and you should always be cautious. Forest Hills is a best of a bad bunch sort of scenario as far as the area goes. (We've lived in this area for about five years). The people who live in the complex are great usually, but not so much everyone around it.
