I agree with all the negative reviews regarding management. They are extremely unhelpful and seemed annoyed with even routine questions. Spa Cove advertises a pool, gym and recreational center but all the facilities have been closed for over a year! Everyone couple months we inquire about the status and they dismiss us rudely saying "were working on it" and then claim to be having problems with zoning/inspection. We contacted the zoning committee (matter of public record) and they advised us only small improvements were needed to pass inspection which the management has been aware of some time.
Its important to note that in the last few years a new management company took over and began renovations on the apartments hoping to sell them as condos. The result was less than desirable due to many factors including the economic downturn so they began leasing many of the intended condos as apartment. Guess they figured they would just forget about renovating the other advertised amenities but my opinion it seems that they have run out of money to complete projects. During the renovation process management tried to illegally evict a number of residents. Many of them fought back stating that renovations are eventually legally required and do not allow for eviction or significant rent increase.
I will say that maintenance is very friendly and helpful with any concerns. The construction and quality of appliances is not very impressive but they are timely and courteous when fixing any problems. The washer/dryer/dishwasher are poor quality and the dryer takes 2 hours to dry a normal load of clothes. Maintenance came by and cleaned the vent but it showed no improvement and management just stated that 'there shouldn't be any problems with a new dryer'. Well I agree and thats why it is so frustrating that it does not work with only 2 people living in a 2 bedroom apartment. The dishwasher has to be put on "heavy wash" just so we dont have to do more than one rinse.
I find that the grounds are well kept and safe from my experience. Most of the tenants are very respectful and there is little noise. One point of annoyance is that the apartment does not issue parking passes for tenants and provides only enough parking spaces for one car per apartment. It basically turns into a free for all and if anyone has visitors they can easily take up multiple spaces. It is mostly only a problem on the weekends with only 30 spaces sometimes half taken up by visitors so tenants end up having to park down the street.
This review is only a matter of opinion from a 2 year tenant but I wanted to take the time and help out potentional renters. Good luck!
