Roaches, water, mold, broken parts, poor workmanship…take your pick! They believe in the band-aid principle not proper repair.

The environment and surroundings at Watergate are magnificent. They offer a paved walk around Back Creek with boat slips. They offer benches, but most of them have broken boards. Throughout the property they now have grillsâno place to put the food or sit while food is cooking, but the grills are freestanding and of nice quality.
Roaches, water, mold, broken parts, poor workmanshipâtake your pick! They believe in the band-aid principle not proper repair. Office staff overall are bunch of incompetent people who lie at the drop of a hat. New manager is VPâs puppet; poorly run organization. Peter Principle alive and well at Watergate. Sad that such a lovely environment is wasted by poor management and poor maintenance.
Garbage disposals are only for appearance; cannot put much in them or they will back up into bathroom sink.
Rent increases are given to all the residents annually but done so arbitrarily ranging from 3% to 7%. They advertise in Anne Arundel County Department of the Aging that there is a 5% rent reduction if you are over 55, but do not offer that to the residents.
Rules are made to be broken at Watergate and office staff are probably the biggest violators rather than model residents. Management changes on a regular basis since the person in DC will not delegate. Has a yes man now that she trained, so he will last for awhile.
Ask the staff a question and you will be given the answer they think you want to hear. If it is repeatedâthey will deny it! The office staff will smile at you and and then knife you in the back never believing they did wrong.
Securityâthey used to have an agency drive around in their vehicle during boating seasonâwith no authorityâand if your vehicle or apartment was broken into you were advised to contact your insurance company and call the police! Projects are only two blocks away so breakins common; bicycle, moped, motorcycle theft commonplace. Parking can be a challenge since parking stickers are not enforced. When it rains, there are floods everywhere on the grounds and in apartments. Gutters are useless; never cleaned or broken. Landscaping overgrown in most areas, tree branches in way of walking. They believe in monochromaticâeverything is now beige and only greenery!
Cleaning crew and most contractors do not speak English; workmanship a thing of the past. Maintenance is always done in pairs; do not know correct way or repairing.
