Great place to live.

Though I have only been living in the community since the beginning of the year, I absolutely love it. The rent is a little high for my salary (under $40,000/year), but I do feel as though I'm getting my money's worth. I currently rent a two bedroom/two bathroom for $1240.
The rooms are spacious and there's lots of closet space (including a huge walk-in closet in the master, a linen closet, a decent-sized closet in the second bedroom, and a deep storage closet right inside of the apartment-perfect size for storing your bicycle, too). The master bedroom has it's own bathroom. The stackable washer and dryer is inside a closet in the guest bathroom.
The model I live in is not considered the 'deluxe' model, which I don't mind. In the 'non-deluxe' model, there is no ranch room, i.e., eat-in kitchen. Because of that, the kitchen is L-shaped which I actually prefer. It feels spacious and is perfect for anyone who likes to do a lot of cooking. Instead of a sliding glass door leading to the balcony, there is a standard door, which I also prefer. After living in apartments where I'd have to fight with sliding glass doors and screens that would always come off the rollers, it is a nice change. The windows are huge and I can always manage to catch a great breeze. It's almost the first of June, and I have yet to require the a/c.
I don't drive, so I haven't had to deal with the hassle of parking. My apartment faces the parking lot, so I have witness people parking in unusual places when all of the lots are full. It can be noisy with horns honking, etc., but such is apartment living. This is the first time I've ever had anyone live above me, so that is taking some getting used to. When the person above sounds like they are stomping back and forth, it makes me a bit more conscious about the person living below me, and I try to adjust my behavior accordingly. Again, such is apartment living.
Overall, the community is visually appealing; the grounds are always kept neat. There are sometimes issues of tenants not depositing their garbage in the dumpsters, but it doesn't appear to be as regular an occurrence as it was before. I've walked through the community lots of times and have yet to come across piles of pet waste, which was a big deal in the complex I moved from. The office staff have always been kind and pleasant. I've never had any problems of them not addressing any issues I've had immediately and courteously. (I can tell you horror stories about the office staff of the last complex I occupied.) The maintenance crew are pleasant to deal with and are well skilled. I only had one issue for which I needed to call maintenance. It was fixed the next day and the complex even emailed me to let me know that the issue has been resolved.
I don't know how effective the gates are with keeping out a bad element, but it does give me a feeling of safety - important when you are a woman living alone! If you can afford it, I highly recommend it. *sigh* Now if they could just drop the rent by $100-200 a month, I'd be in heaven!
